Hi,

I have some questions regarding the IELTS and TEF certificates that should be part of the application sent to visa office and I would like to ask for their answers.

My understanding, based on the questions from the IELTS and TEF application forms and also based on the specifications from CIC website, is that the IELTS and TEF certificates with your scores are directly sent by the corresponding organisations to CIC, even before the candidate receives the results from that organizations.
1. Is the above sentence this correct?

2. If the answer at 1 is "yes", is required to also sent the paper IELTS and TEF original certificates as part of the documents package sent to visa office?

3. If the answer at 2 is "no", in what timeframe after taking the TEF someone can send the documents package to visa office, considering the IELTS results were already sent to the visa office.
I read on the web (and maybe someone can confirm that) that Paris Chambre of Commerce sents the TEF results by email after 4 weeks and by regular mail after 6-8 weeks.
I was wondering whether Paris Chambre of Commerce has any way to sent the results to CIC after 4 weeks too.

4. Is any problem if the IELTS results were sent to visa office by IELTS organisation even before the candidate sends his/her application to visa offfice? This means there is no file number on that results.
Do they have a system to match these types of results received without file number with the application received later with a file number (I assume that based on the name, address and photo).

1) No, you send it to CIC

You need to send the scores (original) to the visa office processing your case along with other documents. Many organizations (including CIC) are then able to verify your scores on the IELTS website but they still want you to send them an original copy.

Since it seems that I need the paper-certificates, I have two new questions:
1. how long it takes to get the TEF results after the exam?
2. how somebody can obtain one more copy of the IELTS certificate?

1. No idea about TEF.
2. The British Council will only send you ONE original copy of IELTS score. If you need more, you may order free within a month of the exam score receipt or at a charge later. However, in that case, they will only send them directly to the insitutions NOT to you.

I think they will send you one e-copy after one month of result and then Orignal copy will take 2-3 months, this is what happeining with one of my ferind. So TEF within given time frame like 120 days from CIC is on risk. If some one has taken test already before applying, that would be fine. It may differ in region where you are living, try to check with nearest Alianza France etc.

Its possible in some visa offices while other will accept by mail only. Check visa specific guide , if they says "Submit" then you have option for submit in person.

I have checked with the Alliance Francaise office where I am going to take the TEF exam and they told me that:
- they will receive the results for all the candidates about a month after the test; this is when they will notify the candidates by email or phone;
- they will receive the original TEF certificates for all the candidates about 2 months after the test and they are going to send them to the candidates. A candidate could pre-pay the shipment of his/her original certificate if he/she wants to have it asap.

They also told me about another way of giving official results to the candidates before receiving the original certificate.
If a candidate has a strong deadline to receive the TEF original certificate, after the results from Paris Chambre of Commerce arrive at the Alliance Francaise office, the Alliance Francaise can prepare an official letter signed by the director of the center that confirms that the candidate took the exam and his/her score.
They said that this solution is currently used for immigration purposes by immigration lawyers, so they assume that the Canadian visa office accept this type of letter to replace at least temporarily the original certificate

My question is this:
Did somebody use this approach of sending the TEF results in order to meet the deadline of 120 days estabished by CIC?
If yes, was it succesful?

Hey Daria, i don't know the answer to this question. Is there a cost to doing this? if no, then you should ask the director to send you such a letter so you can meet the 120 days deadline and also write a letter to say that your original results will be sent soon.
