hey guys
in order to land
every new immigrant with copr must fill a b4 and b4a form?
I'm only carrying stuffs like clothes, my personal laptop and a video game.. maybe a cookie from my country
do I have to fill out this forms?
i'm kinda lost in here

You won't be shipping anything from home? If so, you should fill out the B4.

Make sure you declare the cookie ;-)

It is not always necessary... but it is helpful to do so. CBSA will always appreciate it - it tells them you came prepared.

Personally I don't think you really need it because when my wife landed, she just had some suitcases of clothes and a few other items. The customs official asked if she had over 10K (which she didnt) and then when she gave him the B4 form, he looked at it quickly and said "this not needed" and gave it back. But still, better safe than sorry I say.

Note that you don't need the B4A (goods to follow later) if everything you want to bring to Canada will be with you when you land

That is essentially what the B4 form is. Whether you need to use their specific form or not, I'm not sure. When I first cam to Canada, I just created a Word doc with the list and value. That worked for me. But this was 15 years ago so I have no idea if there was a B4 form back then.

Anyway, I'd use the B4 form to be safe.

Use the Customs Declaration Card to declare the following:

Any items that you must pay duty on, including alcohol, tobacco and gifts that you are bringing in to Canada
Any business goods, plants, food, animals, firearms or other weapons that you are bringing into Canada
Any amount of money more than CDN $10,000 that you are bringing into Canada

Do not use this form to list the personal and household goods that you are bringing with you or are following you to Canada. You will show your lists of those items separately to a customs officer.
