Hello VIP members,
I would like to know if sponsored person is allowed to bring draft when he is landing.
If yes, is there any limit?
Regards,
Nancy

Sorry, what do u mean by draft? A bank draft? Money?

What was your PR visa expiry date? How many days you had before you could land in Canada once you got COPR?

Yes please, bank draft.

there is no limit to the AMOUNT of money a person can bring with them to Canada. If the total amount of funds brought exceeds $10,000 CDN, then it MUST be declared at point of entry. NOT declaring funds over $10,000 can result in the currency being seized.

Hi Hgauher,
I did not understand your question:-

"What was your PR visa expiry date? How many days you had before you could land in Canada once you got COPR?"

However, I am trying to reply.
I have sponsored my husband who will be landing next month.
I am on PR here in Canada and eligible to sponsor my husband.
It took 8 months for CIC, Abu Dhabi office to clear my file.
CIC gave upto December 31, 2015 to land in Canada.
This date depends on medical validity.
My husband submitted medical again hence the validity extended to December 31, 2015.
I hope, I replied what you are looking for.
Regards,
Nancy

rhcohen is correct but I want to clarify because I've seen exactly this on Border Security. The $10,000 threshold does not apply to just Canadian dollars. If you're brining in Canadian dollars, euros, rubles, US dollars, etc etc atc, and when COMBINED equal (when converted) more than $10,000 Canadian, it must be declared.

I've also seen them treat a gold bar as currency, so factor that in too.
