Hi All,

I have couple questions about the landing process:

1) Can I (the sponsor) attend the landing interview (questions) with my wife (the PA) or she has to be alone to answer the questions (my wife is not that good in English)?
2) Our final destination will be Ottawa but I believe we can land in Montreal QC, correct?

Thanks

1) If you are traveling together, then you will be able to go with your wife to the landing interview. It's possible the officer may insist that your wife answers certain questions. They have interpreters if your wife doesn't speak English well.
2) Your wife will complete landing procedures at the first Canadian airport she reaches.

What Scylla said.

No problem at all landing in Montreal (I assume you are concerned about the 'Quebec' thing - don't be). As you will have discovered, you MUST declare PR at your first port of landing in Canada, and after all, there are very few international flights that go direct to Ottawa and Montreal is the closest major hub airport by a long way to Ottawa!

Thanks for the reply and info.

1) We are planning to do a short landing for just two weeks, then return back. Later, within few months, we are planning to go to Canada to settle. We will be giving our relative's address in Canada to send the PR card which then will be mailed to us via courier service.

Does it hurt to share this plan with the officer at the airport?
Will the officer in this case put the PR process on hold until we get back to Canada? or short landing is very common and acceptable by the officers?

2) Once we return back to Canad to settle, we will bring some cloths and jewelry, that is all. Can I declare these items in the short landing on the B4 form?

Please note that, we will not have any 'Goods Accompanying' in the short landing, just our cloths and some gifts.

Thanks in advance

1. Perfectly normal to do what you have described (we did). You don't have to tell the CBSA officers anything they don't ask. The landing 'interview' usually consists of two perfunctory questions that you will already have answered.

2. You are only 'landing to declare PR' to CIC, NOT 'landing as a settler' as defined by CBSA for 'goods accompanying'. Perfectly normal to do what you are planning (again, we did), but you would do BOTH your 'goods accompanying' and 'goods to follow' lists in your later 'land as settler' landing. Thank you all for the help.

My last question:

My wife just received the passport with the visa stamped.

COPR is valid till: 2019/11/27
Counterfoil Expiry Date (on MYCIC): 2019/11/27
Visa Expiry Date: 2019/11/27

Which definitely means that she can land starting from now until 2019/11/27, CORRECT?

Thanks in advance.
