Landing questions

Morning all. Apologies if this question has been asked before, but I wasn't able to find anything. Also tried calling IRCC over the last few days (in Canada for Christmas!) and have given up after constantly getting the "there are no agents available, goodbye" message.

I got my COPR through a few weeks ago, and we plan to move late in the spring form the UK to Canada. Given the complexity of sorting everything out before we leave, we were hoping to send our daughter over to Canada with her Canadian grandmother about a week before my wife and I leave so we can get things done without worrying about childcare. My daughter has a Canadian passport, so PR wasn't required for her on my application. Would it be possible to do this, or will the immigration/landing officer require us all (myself, Canadian wife and daughter who has a Canadian passport) to land together?

Also, will they need to see proof of funds on a PR Spousal visa? We'll probably have run out of money in our UK account by the time we leave, but my wife has cash in her Canadian account. Will they need to see anything in my name (or indeed any proof of finances at all) on that front?

Thanks in advance for the advice, and a merry Christmas to all!

You don't even need to have your wife with you when you land in Canada. Make sure the grandmother has a notarized letter of permission from both of you to travel with the child.

No, they will not need to see proof of funds.

Thanks so much for all the responses. I was wondering if I could ask one more question regarding OHIP.

The rules state you must have proof of address. For the first couple of months we are likely to be staying with my wife's mother, so we are unlikely to have anything proving our address (utility bills, rental/mortgage agreement). So a couple of questions are:

1 - Is there anything that OHIP will accept as proof of address that is quite easy to get if you don't have your own permanent address?
2 - Does your 3 month clock start ticking from when you land, or when you apply? I.e. - are we able to apply for OHIP a couple of months down the line and only have to wait one further month, or will they only start counting the waiting period at the point we apply?

1. Open a bank account.

2. The day you land.
