Apologies if this is a common question....

I'm planning to land in early 2011 and then go onto the US 2-3 days after landing...

1.) Can I do this?
2.) Would it be better to get the PR card before leaving Canada? i.e it makes things easier when i want to get back into Canada?
3.) Can the PR card be mailed to me in the US?

Thx

CIC will not mail your PR card to the United States. They will only accept a Canadian address and it can't be a business address. If you know someone in Canada, you can use their address and have them send your cards to you in the U.S., but you cannot give CIC a U.S. address.

Hello,
As this is about landing, please permit me to ask this question on this page.
As a PR, I traveled back to my country just few days after my first landing in Canada. However, I have safely received my PR card and hope to finally relocated to Canada by next year 2011 hopefully.
But my fear is, incase the immigration officer want to know when I left Canada after my first landing, and how did I get my PR Card while outside of Canada? What will my answer be?
Should I tell him/her the truth?
I landed, and left after a week due to some uncontrolable circumstances.
And PR Card posted to my friend's address who inturn posted it to me in Spain.
Please kindly advice me what to answer if this question arises.
Moreso, how long does it take to get a SIN number or Card?
Secondly, when I landed last year, the immigration officer did not stamp my list of items I hope to come along with when coming to Canada.
Instead he just gave me a form containing the contact of a shipping company that will handle it. And that I should contact them whenever I am ready. Please help.

IMO you should always tell an immigration officer the truth. The worst that can happen is that the IO might tell you that the card should not have been mailed overseas.

A Service Canada office will give you your SIN in just a few minutes. The plastic card takes about two weeks.

This is normal procedure in Vancouver. Call the shipping company and they will guide you through the process.
