Landing questions, neesd help~~

My wife and I just got our immigration visas and CoPR last week. Since both of us have been in Canada for a while as study permit holder and the permits are still valid until 2015, we are wondering by which way we should do our landing.

For landing at the PoEs, as neither of us have US visa and we have no plans for international trip in near future, is there any way that we can go out through the departure area of the local international airport without flight tickets and immediately re-enter Canada by going through the custom? If yes, what do we need to take except for passports with visa and the CoPR?

For landing at a nearest CIC office, how long it will usually take after making an appointment?

Based from what I've been hearing from people I know, the wait time can be as much as 3-4 months just to get an appointment at Landing offices.

The quickest way, is go to the nearest US/Canada border (By driving), when exiting Canada tell the US border officials that you would just like to land, and they will just ask for your passport and COPR. After everything is done, you literally just make a U turn to the Canada border and talk to the Canada border officials (show all your paper works again and there you go you are now "landed". Most people do this because it is the quickest way. The drive may be a bit long but you don't have to wait for months. Note that you do not need a US visa to do this.

I asked my friend that works in an immigration agency about this matter. She said it is simply not allowed to just drive to an airport and land like you would in a border. (and I quote "obviously people would just do that if they can go to the local airport and not drive for hours, cause its easier."lol). Unless of course you were just off an international flight than you can "land" in the airport.
Just curious, which city are you guys at? I guess your best bet is to go to a border it is faster than CIC office option. I don't think driving would be that bad, better than waiting for months.

No - definitely not possible unfortunately.

Landing at the airport is only possible if you are arriving in Canada on an international flight.

We just received our PR and now we need to travel to Canada, however have just one thing bothering us thats is destination name being mentioned as Toronto on the letter we received. Though this is what we mentioned while applying but now my husband has got a job in Edmonton and we dont want to go to Torornto first for landing and then to Edmonton?
Just wanted to know the significance of that destination being mentioned. My husband was the primary applicant and he applied under FSW.

Is there any restriction on the money that we can take into Canada when we land the first time?

I do not think it matters where you want to leave in Canada after you land, people's plans change. I think it only matter if you are a PR under provincial nomination cause you have to stay in the province where you have been nominated but since it is under the Federal skilled it should be fine. Take note that if the officer is not asking the question don't make unnecessary comments or remarks. If they ask you where you are going then tell them that you originally planned for Toronto but he got a job in Edmonton so that is where you are heading now. Maybe bring a job offer confirmation from the employer just in case.

When it comes to money you can bring as much money as you want! Although if you bring money more than $10,000 or anything close make sure you bring proof,bank statements payslips. etc. and be ready to answer questions and NEVER lie! make sure you declare it. This is just a way of Canada to insure anti drug trafficking or money laundering especially border crossing. Goodluck!
