Hello all, my husband is preparing to land next week. I see the questions asked during landing interview are general and related to Application.

What kinds of questions have you folks been asked? We're you asked any dates like dates you met family members or anything like that?

Congrats ..

Relax :). These are the questions that, if he cannot answer, you have a big problem :)...

Stuff to validate that the application's material facts are the same. Number of dependants, any extra kids that were missed, criminal activity in Canada, etc.

I was joking with my wife yesterday she'd be the first person sent back on the plane to her home country because she doesn't understand a word of English.

Have they ever sent anyone back because they couldn't answer the questions? Or do they provide translators? just curious.

The sponsor is supposed to be present.

Wow didn't know that. Well that eases my concerns because my wife and I would be travelling together.

My wife would be happy to know this and she thanks you in advance.

They will just ask him to confirm the information on the COPR. They won't ask questions about the application.

They will find someone to translate or possibly contact you.

The sponsor is not required to be present when an outland applicant lands.

Landing interview for inland they sponsors attend. Though I am sure they will rely on you if you are travelling with her anyway...

You are not actually required to be present for your wife to land.

You will be able to be with her while CBSA processes her landing.

Yes I realised that after and I corrected my post. Thanks for keeping me honest!

For inland landings, sponsors are supposed to be present.

First fill in the customs form on the plane as far as possible. I filled in everything on the visitor part, except the address and how many days I would stay in Canada. Present it to the customs officer when you arrive ant tell him that you (or your husband in this case) that you have a COPR. He will write COPR on top of that form send you to an immigration officer. The immigration officer will ask you to confirm the information on your COPR, like if the address is still the same like on your COPR, convicted for crimes and if you have goods to follow, B4 form, but I don't know if it is still named as B4 and if you want to import a car. If you have those B4 forms, the immigration officer will put a barcode on it. Then you have to sign the COPR and you can pick up your luggage and if that is eventually checked, you can go out of the airport or go to your next flight.

For someone who doesn't speak English or French, I don't know for sure if there is someone to translate. I have never heard that the sponsor has to be present. My wife was waiting at the airport when I have landed, but no one has asked me if she was present. It might be hard if you land for example in Montreal or Toronto and your destination is Calgary or Vancouver or so where the sponsor is living and where you would go to live.
