Landing prior to "real move"? And other landing questions :)

Hi guys,

our situation is the following: I'm German and currently living with my Canadian husband and our child in Germany. I got my CoPR a while ago (yay!), saying I could land until July 2017 (not later). Now we are planning to move to Canada in summer 2017, although the exact month is not clear yet (depending on when I manage to finish my PhD thesis and other things). I would prefer not to be dependent on the issued in the CoPR...

We're travelling to Canada for a visit in November, do you know whether I could already do my landing procedure then? So it's done and over with and we're not restricted as to when exactly to move there next year? We would of course be travelling back to Germany 2 weeks later and continue living there for some months- so is that allowed?

The letter also says that I will have to claim the personal belongings I'm importing (and going to import) when I'm landing- so I will have to know what I will be bringing already then I guess? What do I have to claim there anyway? Joint belongings of me and my husband, too? Will I have to pay fees? How about funds?

I have no idea of the landing process whatsoever anyway- anyone knows about a thread here where everything is explained?

My wife and I did exactly what you're planning to do except we're living in Turkey. We did an initial landing in May 2016 just so that she officially lands and becomes a PR. Once she landed we returned to Turkey about 2 weeks later. Her PR came in the mail to my brother's house and he couriered it over to us and now we're moving back permanently in about a week. I don't think there will be any issues with you doing this.

I'm interested in responses to this topic as well since I'm super paranoid about having to move quickly after I get COPR.

(OP probably knows that in Germany nothing can be quit with a 30 day notice, but rather 3 months - appartments, jobs etc. )

That's reassuring... did you tell them that you were going back to Turkey two weeks later?
How did you do it with the possession list- did you already know what you were going to bring upon the "real" move?
