Hi, I did my landing last month and got "carbon copy " of landing paper at the time of landing from immigration officer.
i went to a near by service ontario for health card and they did not accept that carbon Copy of landing paper and said it is a photo copy.
I told him that is the only paper i got and original was kept by immigration officer. He did not accept my explanation.
Has any one experienced the same and could you pls share whom to contact on this?

Sometimes you get an OHIP agent who doesn't have much experience with immigration papers. You could go back again (hopefully get a different agent), try a different office, or wait another couple of weeks for your PR card.

Maybe walk thru the whole situation with that person's supervisor. I had seen instances where they talk to their sup/helpline to seek clarifications.

Carbon copy is not accepted as a proof.

Your best bet is to go to a service canada office rather than service ontario. Usually service ontario will give a hard time without your PR card but service Canada no questions asked.

You don't really mean "carbon copy". There are two ORIGINAL parts to a COPR, the CIC/CBSA part, and your part. They will both be signed and stamped by both yourself and the Border Services officer when you land. The problem for OHIP is that it doesn't prove that you are actually a resident for OHIP purposes, only that you are a landed immigrant. Them thinking that it's a photocopy is just plain stupid.
However, it doesn't actually matter as you are not entitled to OHIP cover until you have been a factual resident for 3 months, and they start the clock when you commence residency, regardless of when you apply within that three month period.

I ran into the same problem as well. Service Ontario kept saying that it looks like a photocopy. However the clerk eventually relented and renewed my health card...
Try visiting a different branch.

I didn't face this problem. They saw my landing paper and renewed the OHIP. It hardly took 5 minutes time. I went to the 776 bay service Ontario center in Toronto. May be try another center.

Same with me. No issues at all. I went to 3300 Bloor street west.

Thanks all for your responses. i will try again going on a different date or to different office.
