Hi,

Landing the 23rd. Did the process change? I was initially following all the landing process' experience posts but I noticed the whole Canadian immigration website has changed.

Basically it says, show up with:
- COPR
- (2) x List of items entering on the date of entry (b4)
- (2) x List of items entering at a later date (b4)

PR will automatically be mailed automatically, no forms required. Doesn't mention anything about bringing an application for PR or passport photos: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/pr-card/index.asp

The website is actually pretty decent now as well. A lot easier to navigate.

No - the process didn't change. Bring your passport and the COPR, and the copy of your marriage certificate if you applied under married - I don't know anybody who has been asked for it, but in case.... + B4 if you have some goods.
PR card is mailed to the address you give to the officer the day you land, so make sure you have that. No need to bring pictures or forms - normally you get 2 COPR, one with picture that the officer will keep, sign and send to CIC to process the PR card, and 1 one for you to keep.

Congrats on getting your PR and welcome to Canada! :)

This is awesome. Sorry, my mistake then. I don't know why I had in my notes that we had to fill out an application for PR card.

Hello mapleleafs2011,

Just want to shared our landing experience on December 12th, It was very smooth only took us 7 minutes to completed all process with the Immigration Officer.

After walking out from the airplane we enter to the first Canadian Customs desk, I told the officer that my wife is here for landing as permanent resident. The officer asks the general questions: where are coming from, what did you bring with you? Any meat, fruit, alcohol, cigarettes...etc. then the officer stamped our Customs Declaration Card and handed back to us. Another officer directed us to another office which handling the landing process, we waited in line for about 10 minutes then the officer call us to the counter, I handed over my wife's two copies of COPR paper and her passport/visa, the officer check on his computer system to verified all information are correct on the system that match the COPR paper, passport/visa and confirming the correct address, then the officer fill out the COPR papers and put his signature on both copies and asked my wife to signed both copies, then he handed back us the copy of COPR without my wife's photo and he keep the one with the photo and told my wife she will be receiving her PR Card by mail in about two weeks at the address on the COPR paper. Then the officer said Welcome to Canada!

PS. The officer did not ask us for any of the B4 or B4A forms and didn't ask how much funds that we are bring in to Canada.

Cheers,

My experience was pretty similar - very easy and friendly, we got a very chatty officer (there was nobody else landing, as we were flagpoling ), and it was all done quickly. No stress.

Only "correction" - the PR card takes 2 months to get, not 2 weeks according to CIC website, and also from the information that the officer gave us.

Good luck on your landing,
Sweden

Thanks Sweden for the correction of the PR card.. probably I was too excited and didn't pay attention to the officer what he is telling my wife.

the good part is - unless your wife is travelling soon somewhere, you don't actually need the PR card most of the time... I have been carrying a copy of the signed COPR with me, and that's been enough to prove my status (to get the SIN, open a bank account, get a job etc), I have never had to show the PR card itself - although of course I'll be glad to have it one day! :)
