Landing next week, from US to Ontario, need help!

I'm moving up, well, Landing next weekend. I am bringing as much as I can fit in my car. The plan is, to land next weekend, then the following week drive back to NY with my wife, and bring the rest of the stuff (I am close to the border, so I am driving).

My questions are:

1: Do I have to export my vehicle when I officially land next weekend? Or can I wait to do it the following week with the remainder of my goods?

2: Do they care that I am leaving so soon after I land to return home to pick up my stuff?

It's getting close and I'm nervous and excited, just want to get things right, and as painlessly as possible.

Not required. But you need to declare it in the Goods To Follow List and import it next time

2: Do they care that I am leaving so soon after I land to return home to pick up my stuff?
They may not. But you may need to provide them a valid Canadian address at the POE and also explain them about your stay.

1. As manianz47 said, put it on your goods to follow.

But.. are you going to be travelling with the vehicle you plan on putting in the goods to follow? This may get you stopped. Common sense tells me you should be let through, but posters especially lately have complained about getting stopped at the border. It seems they want you to land the vehicle too if you are going to bother crossing into Canada with it while you land. I would suggest, if your plans were to drive across, to use some other means like renting a moving vehicle and getting prior permission to cross with it.

2. No. That applies to countries that aren't visa exempt -- if you are American, then you're fine with passport returning to Canada before PR card arrives so long as you are in a non commercial vehicle. They will know you're a PR.

Pr confirmation visa is valid for single entry.. If you are not from visa exempt country.. You need to obtain travel document ..

Yeah, I was planning on using it on the goods to follow. I need to bring my car up somehow, so I was going to drive up to my wife, drive back with her, and then have her drive my car up as I will have a rental truck with the rest of my belongings. That was the sticking point, whether or not they'd question the fact that I'm not exporting the car right away. Maybe there's a better way but I'm not really sure what that may be.

I need to export the vehicle from what I understand which doesn't seem too bad as I have all the necessary documents, It's just that the car is my only means of transportation to and from Canada. I was hoping to export the car when I have the rest of my stuff. I could probably fit most in my car but I have some heirlooms that require a truck unfortunately.

What you said makes sense to me but according to numerous posts from other people it's rolling a dice (with the odds against you apparently) of not getting the car allowed in even if it's to drop stuff off.

Think about it this way, if they know you are going to import the car on goods to follow but are allowed in the country, you could still just keep it in Canada and not land it. To prevent doing this, aka driving the car illegally in Canada, it's probably simpler from their end to just deny access to the car until you're going to "land" it.

So here's another question. Do I have to "land" when I go up next weekend? Or can I save it for the following week when I'm with her. Maybe that's a better option. I was figuring they were to want me to land next weekend, but if that's not a strict requirement, maybe I'll land the following weekend, and have her with me at the same time.

Good idea.

You don't have to land (just take note of your "land by" date on the COPR in the case it's coming up, generally is one year past medicals -- and be sure you're well prepped for the process of exporting and then importing a vehicle), just make sure you tell them you're visiting your wife for a week, don't mention landing later, and don't bring stuff to make it seem like you're landing if you aren't going to that time. Don't see why they would deny you entry in that circumstance.
