Landing issues - general queries

Dear All,

I am planning to land in Canada early next year. Although I have read lots of topics regarding the landing formalities , I am still confused about few points which I would be most thankful if anyone can advice me on:

1. I came to know that it is no longer required to carry a pre-filled PR card application form upon laning .. is that true? if that is the case how do you apply for your PR card upon landing?

2. POF issue is of course an ongoing headache for everyone who is planning to land. I do understand that bank statemenets are not always acceptable as a POF, however I am sure lots of us have heard that bank statments from banks in the UK, US etc can be accepted. My bank is the The Royal Bank of Scotland (RBS) ,one of the biggest in the UK , I wonder whether a bank statement from them will suffice or I have to get a bank draft? which I presume has to be in my name?

3. In addition to the VISA and COPR what are other essential documents that are necessary for the landing?

If anyone has any up to date idea/experience on these issues , I am sure it would of great value for all people planning to land in the future.

Many thanks.

Hello silenthill82

1. Right. Not required. COPR itself is the PR application. IO will keep the original and push for PR procedure. U do not need to worry about that. All u need to ensure that pictures affixed on the COPR are as per immigration criteria. Do carry extra pics in case IO sees some deficiency

2. Bank statements are not always acceptable but probability of acceptance is there. Being on the safer side, carry cash / Travellers' cheque / Demand draft. Ideal combination suggested is 20:80 i.e. 20% cash and rest in the form of TC / DD. I suggest carry POF in the form of Cash and Travellers' cheque only as DD takes about 22 working days to credit where as TC has no such issue. Please note that in case cash is more that CAD 10,000, do fill the declaration form available on the flight and before approaching IO.

3. U need to carry passports (having visa) :D and goods declaration forms (accompanying and un-accompanied).
