A letter was sent to me by Immigration Canada in regards to a landing interview...

Can anyone who has experienced this before tell me what this interview entitles...?

Thanks

Congratulations!

It's just a formality for your PR.

You go to the office and take a number then give your name. The Immigration officer will call you into an office with your sponsor (who has to attend).

He/she will ask if you have paid the Right of Landing Fee - if you haven't, your sponsor will be taken to pay it then.

They will ask for your passport and the letter you got, and 2 photo's.

They will ask you your eye color, whether you have ever been refused entry to Canada or asked to leave. They will ask you if you have any dependent other than those listed (if applicable). They will ask you if you have committed any crime or have criminal proceedings pending. They may ask if you are married legally ... they will ask your sponsor if he/she is your sponsor.

You will be shown a sheet of paper that has these questions on, when you answer them they will ask you to initial each place.

Then..... you sign within the green box..... and it's "Welcome to Canada" !!!

Thank you so much. . i have not received a date yet for the interview but i have paid the fee via bank and sent it to them... if you know, what is the waiting period for the date of the interview as it was not indicated in letter i received. I was told I have to pay the fee before a date is given...

Hmmmm... you paid it thru the bank. You are applying inland right? I was under the impression that you have to pay it on the day of the landing interview, at least that's what they asked us to do we landed in Calgary.

Where is your local office? Each office is different. They either call you or send you a letter instructing you when to show up.

I received computer generated letter on my GCkey portal on 18 Oct 2022 stating," Final step of my PR application is to attend a Landing Interview by me(applicant) and Local IRCC office will contact me for interview detail". Since then I am waiting for correspondence to get interview schedule

(Still doesn't make sense to post in threads that are a decade old)

Honestly first letter I've heard of referring to landing interview since the start of the pandemic. Is your file inland or outland? Applicant is in Canada?

This could be IRCC re-starting the landing interview process. Or it could be someone reusing an ancient letter out of bureaucratic mistakes.

Could you perhaps post full text of letter (removing personal details of course)?

And in your case - given all of the other things going on - I would contact IRCC by phone and confirm this. And even ask directly if it should not be a virtual landing.

For quite some time the standard IRCC approach has been virtual landings with no landing interview, no physical interaction. (A few perhaps have had phone calls)

Reason is I would be concerned this is a mistake and it gets shunted to some desk where someone has to figure out whether this is actually supposed to happen and how to do it, and where, etc.
