Hey friends,

I've got my landing interview letter last week and the appointment is this Thursday here in Calgary downtown. In the letter, I was requested to bring photos, passport, and etc. So I called my lawyer, as they were our representative. But the legal assistant said it's just an interview to confirm my information and I am not landing on that day?

My question: From what I read here in this forum, I thought once you got a landing interview letter, it meant you will land on that day, and that was why you are requested to bring all those docs, and also your sponsor if you were being sponsored? I do not want to sound silly, but after my conversation with that legal assistant, I am confused and worried now! Can someone here help me please? :(

Thank you so much!

If this is a landing interview, then bring EVERYTHING CIC is asking. I would recommend not listening to the legal assistant as they have probably never been through a landing interview or the inland process. Follow on the instructions specifically sent by CIC. It's better to bring more than less. the last thing you want to do is listen to advice from someone and have it be wrong. what's the worst that can happen if you bring the items requested by CIC? nothing. what's the worst that can happen if you don't... you end up not landing, and having to wait AGAIN for another timeslot. seems likes a no-brainer to me.

This IS your landing "interview". You ARE landing at that appointment. Follow the instructions in the letter, and disregard the "legal assistant".

As an aside, why does it seem that "immigration attorneys/advisors" in Canada seem to be so ignorant of what they profess to be an expert in?

Point 1/ Agreed. Show up with everything, and hopefully you come back with a PR :).

Point 2/ I suspect they want to down-play the significance so that if there is a problem, they will not be on the hook for it. I have discovered that lawyers in any stream of law seem to be hit-and-miss for quality. The higher quality ones are difficult to find.

That's what I thought too! I agree with you. I would rather bring EVERYTHING that CIC requested. But the legal assistant was telling me that I am NOT landing on that day. It will be just an interview to confirm information. She left me in confusion. That's why I am asking here in this forum, since we went or are going through the same thing. It felt nice that people in this forum understand what we are going through and also are willing to share their experience. Thank you again!

I agree with you on point 2 :) And yes, hopefully I will come back with my PR! :)
