Hi All,

I landed in Montreal airport on 5th July. Just want to share my landing experience for those were selected through Quebec.

I landed around 11h35 and was done with immigration baggage etc by 12h30. So less than an hour (waiting time included). Really was simpler and less complicated than I thought.

After the plane landed I got in line for the general immigration. I told the agent I had come for my landing. He asked for my PP with visa and COPR. he checked and showed me where to go. I got into a large room was asked to take a number and wait. This agent asked me how much money I was carrying (did not physically check), for my good to follow list (no one wanted to see my goods accompanying!!??) and asked for my address in montreal along with PP and COPR. She asked me to go wait. After 10 mins she gave me a copy of the stamped goods to follow copy and the carbon of COPR. She sent me to another agent in another area, who gave me a whole bunch of handouts to open bank accounts, SIN number application and asked me to sign a few things to apply for PR card which would be posted to my address. She gave me Welcome to Canada booklet and told me to be present in a weeks time at the immigration office for a welcome to quebec session. That was all I went ahead to get my baggage which was waiting for me since I was held up at the immigration offices.

For all those coming to Quebec, do not stress the landing part is the least of your problems.

Take care and best of luck

Hey,
Am just about to send my application as a skilled immigrant to Quebec province. I am a biochemist by trainning and for the last for years i have been lectureing biochemistry at a medical shool in Ethiopia. I did also work in Kenya at a pharmaceutical company as a quality control analyst. My french is zero but fluent in English, once i have sent my application i will immediately enroll for French lesson. Please tell me what to expect, is Montreal and Quebec in general aplace for me? Since you are a recent immigrant i guess your experience is all i need to move forward.

have u found job and resolved housing etc?

I just received my visa this week..we will be landing in montreal by next april of next year..any tips once we land there? is it easy to look for a job?

Finding job in your field as immigrant is almost as "easy" as finding water in Sahara desert.

I find your reply very helpful....

Jobs are difficult to come by these days in Montreal. Rents have increased.
