Hi guys,

My conjugal partner was granted a PR and we are both hoping to land in Canada very soon. My Partner is a Filipino citizen with Philippine passport and i am a Canadian born citizen (Sponsor).

We are both in the Philippines now. Currently we are borh looking for ecconomically wise airflight, does she need to have a return ticket or one way ticket is ok?

We have found affordable flight going to Canada but its multiple airlines. This is the route:
Manila to Beijing China to Toronto

Does she need a transit visa to China?

Please help as i have no information about this, We tried calling Philippine airlines and Philippine Immigration both of them doesnt have any idea.(very frustrating)

So your partner has the precious CoPR document and you plan to land before it expires - right? If so, then yes, you can take a one-way flight no problem.

How much are you saving by not using PAL which flies direct to Vancouver then connects to Toronto? I have gotten great rates each time I have flown to Manila from Toronto by using budget economy. Hard to help if we can't compare costs.

Unclear how accurate this is: "Chinese Visa rule 4 says: Foreigners who have confirmed onward tickets and seats on international flights and directly transit through China and stay for no more than 24 hours within the airport boundaries shall not need to apply for a transit visa"

Hope that helps!

What's the price that you found? For which month?

I'm not allowed to post a link here.
You can search "China eastern travel requirements" on Google. Hope it can help u.

600 CAD vs 1300 CAD EACH

thats the fare difference.

One way ticket is OK, and seems that transiting through China for a Philippine citizen is fine as long as the person not coming out of the airport. The right place to confirm this 100% is through Chinese consulate or embassy in Philippines.

600CAD is a really good price, if you can get that.

Depending on the day you decide to fly out of the Philippines is a big difference in prices of flights as well. My partner also recently got the Conjugal PR Visa....(I FEEL YOUR PAIN). LOL He will be flying out around mid March and that was going to be my question too (did he need a return ticket). So your question answered mine. FYI I did a quick search through PAL and found a flight from Manila to Toronto for about 1000.00 Canadian per person. Personally I would rather do a flight direct from Manila to Canada to avoid possible more headaches and/or complications. That's IF you can afford it. Congratulations on your application and good luck.

PS....has your partner done the mandatory seminar in the Philippines at (Commission On Filipinos Overseas)? Im assuming she lives in the Philippines. My partner HAS to do it before he can leave the country, AND he (in your case she) will have to make an appointment and do it as well.

Yes shes done with the seminar.

We will be returning to canada this week.

Thanks to all of you here
