Landing in canada and returning the next day

We have received the Immigration visas and are planning to land in Canada via detroit.

(1) Is it possible that we stay there just for a day and return to US. While we are there we will apply for the PR Card and SIN. I have a cousin there who can collect the PR Cards and mail them to me.

Is this allowed or will there be an issue with a temporary visit,

(2) How do I give the proof of funds?

I am a resident of India and have applied for immigration, is it possible for me to land in Canada and return to India after applying for the SIN etc..

Yes but it's better when you have a mailing address for them to send your PR card and your SIN card to. If you have a friend or a relative in Canada who can send them to you in India. that would be no problem. You still need to meet residency requirements though. If you are outside Canada for more than 1095 days in a 5 year period, you lose your PR again.

I have similar situation. I'm planing in staying for few days then go back to USA and I have a relative in quebec. Do I have to ask for a permit to leave or not?

You don't need a permit to leave. You just need your PR card for when you want to come back.
