Your advice please.

A prospective immigrant who just been notified that he is going to be approved for permanent residency has emailed me this question. I think the forum can offer better advice then I.

Dear Agenda,
I have just won appeal hearing and granted my Permanent Residency. During hearing, I say I would (be) bringing $8000 dollars when arriving. My question is do I have to bring funds all at once? Do they ask to see funds I said I (was) bringing in hearing. I have the money, but not sure (I) want to travel with all money at once. I like any help.

Any answers?

The 'settlement funds' [as per the CIC table] ought to be brought while 'landing' [1st entry to Canada] as a PR -- else a BSO@POE might deny his/her entry. U may like to draw his/her attn to this thread:

hi everyone, i am an active reader of this forum and recently registered my name. just to share with you that we got our visa last weekend. thanks so much on this forum and i like this thread..very informative..many thanks to qorax and other contributors. i have few queries...

1. we are about to land this end april or 1st week of may 2011 in toronto, and after our landing (2-3 weeks stay), we are planning to have a vacation in the USA for 1-2 months. i believe it is ok to go to US as long as you have US visa, am i right? our US visa will be expiring soon that's why we want to use it prior to expiration in mid May 2011.

2. would there be an issue/questions from US port of entry that we should have our PR card first before we enter US? we will be asking our relatives in toronto once they have our PR card to mail to us in the USA so that we can use it once we re-enter in toronto, what to do you think?

appreciate your reply and pls share your experience who had done this. many thanks and god bless.

1. It's the same as before, explaining u the process next, the wait time etc.
2. Usually it comes by regular post.
3. As point-1... it also has a 'new' File Ref. No.
4. Yes, the complete file is assessed again. But, only based on contents... Rest occurs during b/ground checks.
