If you are landing in Ontario, then you will have to buy private health insurance. You have a minimum 3 month waiting period before you become eligible to apply for a health card. BC also has a waiting period if I am not wrong. Also from what I know, Alberta and PEI offer health care coverage from day 1. I am not sure about the other provinces.

Many Thanks Raj...
It mean going to Alberta will be good choice... I am planning to go there... will health insurance cover maternity? Is there any website to check it...?

Other question is ... If i go there alone and apply for PR card for my family... will they allow me??

Yes it will cover all. Plus your child will be born Canadian so he will also get all health from day one

Nopes, It's like [person and the COPR together] = PR Card Application

Check the below links and see if you can find something -

No. You cannot activate others' PR status or apply PR cards for them. Each person has to "land" and validate their own PR statuses.

Proof of funds to carry from India and goods to accompany list:

Hi Everyone,

I will be landing soon, and have some confusion regarding proof of funds. I am required to show proof of more than $10000 as per the requirement, i will be carrying some cash ( as it is a short stay from 1 week) and would carry a bank certificate from indian bank stating the required amount in my account and would carry my international debit card for the same account and would transfer money to canadian bank after opening account there. I read in various threads in this forum that this is accepted but read somewhere that it is accepted from US only not from the people immigrating from India.

Could anybody from India , please confirm the same.

And regarding goods to accompany list, as it will be a short stay with my 3 month old baby, i will be mostly carrying personal baby stuff like diapers, cotton, baby products. Do i need to mention each and every item like no of packet of diapers, no. of feeding bottles.

Also if i will be carrying some books later on, then on "goods to follow list", do i need to mention about title of every book or i can just put number of books and their total price.

10,000 CAD? The minimum is 12,164 CAD for a single applicant. You can carry this in the form of cash, check, DD or a combination of the three.

Link ---> http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Indian applicants have landed successfully by showing a latest bank letter/statement. Get the statement/letter from the bank one or 2 days prior to your travel date.

Alternatively, you can open a Canadian Bank account and deposit the funds there even before you land.

Check this ---> http://www.scotiabank.com/ca/en/0,,7792,00.html

I believe you can mention everything in one group "Baby Products". Someone who has done this can provide better advise. About the books, I believe you can just say books and provide them with the number of books.

Dear All

one of my relative applying for Permanent residence and average processing time for his PR VISA is mentioned 15 months. which mean he will get VISA on his passport in Nov 2017 and expiry date of his passport is Jan 2018 it mean if successful he has to fly within 2 months. It will be very difficult for him to prepare everything and land in Canada within 2 months. At present he can not apply for new passport as this passport s validity still remain more than one year and to apply for new passport its expire date should not be more than one year. Is there any way so that he get at least one year time to move in Canada after getting Visa.

Dear mariyok,

Embassy will ask for the passport just two or three weeks before, for visa pasting only.
One of my friend's Passport Expiry was Sep 2016, He submitted his Application in Dec 2015, He Renewed his passport in May 2016 and updated the new passport to CIC through [ https://secure.cic.gc.ca/enquiries-renseignements/canada-case-cas-eng.aspx ].
So my advice is just apply with your current passport, and once you will be eligible to renew your passport that time renew the passport and update the latest passport color scan copy by using above link.

Regards,
Pakistani Funter

No. If you are carrying total funds (total of all currencies) of more than CAD 10 K, then you have to declare it on the landing / immigration card. When you go to the customs officer for the goods accompanying / goods to follow etc., he/she will fill this up and file it for their records.

Short Landing in Toronto for 1 week in Mid November 2016.

My question is that I have to travel again to Canada for business purposes in December and Januray and PR card will not be with me by that time. Anyone please advise is it workable to apply for PRTD (Permanent Resident Travel Document) for these visits and normally how much time it takes to get PRTD from Riyadh (Saudi)?
