That is not enuf time to complete your landing formalities. You will surely miss your flight. Look for other flights.

Thank you for your reply. It was the last flight to Edmonton for the day. How much time does it take normally? Considering that its wednesday i was hoping that it will be less rush for new immigrants.

Hopefully landing Toronto next week. My concern is about accepatble easy landing fund showing. I tried to open bank account before landing but no bank is given this except for uk residents. So I contacted money transferring agents they allow only bank deposit for high amount like 12000 cad. So I am thinking to issue a money order from my name to one of my family friends Canadian bank account and later I will get it back. Is it ok to satisfy immigration officer during landing and showing all documents and fact telling. You know carrying cash too much is Risky! Let me know quickly as I have to arrange all thanks
Can anyone puts any light on it!

Isn't it better to go with traveler's/banker's cheque instead? There are threads with more information on opening the bank accounts from countries like India / Abu Dhabi - May be you should be able to find some information after looking up in the forum. Good luck.

Is $12,164 enough for a single person as a proof of funds under FSW? This number comes from the express entry website http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/immigrate/skilled/funds.asp

Do you have doubt in the CIC link?

Friends do we have to collect luggage bags to show to the immigration officer after landing at first port of entry at Toronto or will the luggage bags will be automatically uploaded by the airlines to the connecting flight to Edmonton.

Please give your reply since I have only 2hrs 30 min time between first port of entry and connecting flight and I am landing on next week.

No, I don't :D But since FSW is a different programme, I thought that the amount of funds could also be different.
I'm getting more and more anxious with the date of my landing approaching and I want to double check so that everything goes smoothly at the POE.

BTW Do you (or anyone else) know an answer to my question about bringing prescription medication?

Hi,

CIC website says that single candidate must have equivalent of $12,164 in bank before applying for PR. I have now got the COPR and will be travelling to Canada in 2 weeks. My question do I need to carry all this money ($12,164) with me while travelling to Canada. Or can I just keep $1000 cash with me and show my bank statement showing equivalent of $12,164 in INR (Indian Rupee). Is this scenario acceptable?

Regards,
Swapan

Luggage has to be collected at first POE and subsequently dropped again at airlines counter after completing all immigration and customs formalities.

Hello seniors!

Has anyone sent PR cards from Canada to US via FedEx or UPS? I had to go back to US before they arrived and now I may not drive by road to Canada. So I must have PR card in order to travel.

Thanks for your advise!
