Hello everyone, need your advise on what is the preferred port of entry to PEI, vancouver or toronto? I asked because my initial plan is to land in toronto (near!) but now i got way cheaper rate in vancouver. Any difference on landing formalities for both port? tks.

Hi..
I'd a query regarding 1st entry to Canada after getting pr visa from India.

My family is in Abu Dhabi, so I plan to visit them for 10 days and from there board flight to Canada. Now my doubt is that since I got the pr visa while in India.. N being my first entry... Is it necessary that point of origin has to be India itself? I understand that there will be an interview at the Canada airport.. So just want to make sure before I book my tickets.

Thankyou in advance

Hi rajkamalmohanram,

Please see my comments below:

Hi guys,

1) Can i book air ticket of one airline from my home country to Toronto and then another airline ticket from Toronto to Halifax ? Is there any obligation that it should be a direct flight to Halifax ? I will have two tickets with me in that case rather than one ticket.

Yes you can but you will have to complete your landing formalities in Toronto event though your final destination is Halifax. Landing formalities are generally done at the first port of entry

As i am provincial nominee and my destination is Nova Scotia so would it be any problem to complete landing formalities at Toronto ?

Since you have an onward ticket to Halifax, you are good to go.

2) Is it mandatory to provide address for PR card at the immigration ? Or can i provide that later ?

You have an option to provide it later. AFAIK, you will have to update your myCIC account when you have a Canadian address.

Is there any link between myCIC account and Canadian address ? I didn't know that. Can u make it a bit more clear ?

I believe it is ECAS. After your visa is approved and you land, you will get a placeholder in your online account (ECAS/myCIC??) to update your address. You can add a Canadian Address at a later point in time.

It would be great help if you could reply me.

Hi there!

I plan to do a short landing for 5-6 days in coming summer. Will have two toddlers with us. So, was looking forward have information on suitable hotels in Toronto. Is there anybody who have any information that might help?! I googled regarding this, but it comes up with so many hotels at so many places which are all unknown to me.

Any help is appreciated.

Regards

You can take the Sheraton Hotel which is right at the adjacent of the terminal 3 of the Toronto Pearson Airport.

Congrats brother !!

I am planning to complete my landing this weekend as well and return to US in couple of days.

Can you or any senior please suggest the best way of carrying POF? can I exchange at the border for initial spending and show my US savings account statements for a wire transfer after opening a bank account in Canada?

Thanks in advance.

I had no Cash with me at all, All I had was a Bank of America Bank Statement print outs signed and stamped by BOA employee.

No Need to carry Cash or TA or anything as such, A bank statement will do, hope this helps!

It doesn't matter if your plane if coming from abu dhabi or india...as long as you have the COPR + passport with the valid immigration visa + pof you'll be good.

its not really an interview....upon landing the immigration officer will be filling your PR and in order for him to do that, he needs to ask you some questions to make sure you still meet the criteria for becoming a permanent resident.

Technically it is not an issue. However, if you are a PNP and land in a different province, there might be few questions by the immigration officer.

Just checking if anyone knows insurance company in Ontario to cover waiting period medical expenses during pregnancy?

You can compare quotes here.
Square One Insurance is a bit cheaper I guess.

Tks, there is no direct flight to my destination so I have to transit in any of these major ports. Good to know it's not an issue.

Hi Friends,

While taking the printout of the GOLD in Goods to Follow, can it be just a colour printout or should I take photo print from a photo studio?

I am landing on the 13th January in Toronto.

Thanks
