They can not refuse you a travel document if you meet the RO (residency obligation). The RO for a new PR is defined as still being able to spend 730 days in Canada before their first 5 years are up. Therefore, that gives you 1095 days to be outside so as long as you apply for a travel document within 3 years of landing, even if you haven't spent any time in Canada, they would have to give you one.

As for getting a PR card while not in Canada, when you land, you are asked to provide an address. If you provide an address of a friend of family member and they get your PR card in the mail, they can mail it to you where you are.

Thank you So Much for this information, i was so worry about refusing giving me the TD in case i couldnt collect my PR card.

u must live and stay in Canada for 730 days from 5 years to be eligible for renewal of PR.
Travel documents is ur right with residency limits. Your PR card will be issued keep checking online status. if there is any problem u can solve it by submitting required / or missing information.

Yes, CBSA can and do check laptops & external drives. Will they check yours? No one knows the answer to that.

Remember that CBSA have right to go through any of your electronic devices (that would also include your mobile phone ... and you need to unlock your phone and give it to them). What they basically look for are Child pornography and Zoophilia contents ... which are much more serious crimes than software piracy. They are completely banned in Canada and can have prison sentences of up to 10 years.

If you believe pirated softwares are worth more than your new life in Canada, then you can certainly bring them along and gamble with it... and see how life takes you from there on!

I need an urgent advice

I planed take drafts as follows,

7500 cad on my name
75oo cad on my spouse name.I have to show more than 14000cad becz i travel with my spouse.

When we show our fund like this as a family .would it be a problem.

Or should we have to show our POf in a single draft

I think you can take 10k in your name and balance on your spouse's name.

For main applicant and 1 dependent ... you will need minimum CAD$ 14,853

One can have all the money under either main applicant's name ... or under spouse's name.... or both. It's totally up to you!

- Passports & COPRs ;)

Not needed for landing but useful:
- drivers' licenses & driving records, proof of no-claims
- copies of education documents, employment records, birth certificates etc*
- any and all documents pertaining to property, assets, etc you may have in your home country*

*It's much easier to get copies now & take them with you than to try & get copies later from abroad

Dear all,

Hi to all,
I have a question... already tried to find an answer !
The forms B4/B4A for goods accompanying and following.
We are a family of 4. All landing together.
Do we need to fill it for each family member separately ?
Or 1 will suffice ?
Same question for the declaration form before landing (in plane).

Any help would be helpful, specially those who have landed with families.

Regards,
