Guys need an advise about landing in Canada, I want to land in mid December this year due to some exigencies. Is that a good time to start life in there?
I know it is going to be too cold there, but I am quite prepared for that, concern is how is job market there at that time of the year. Is it a good decision to be there in mid winters or I should delay it further, if yes then what is the good time to land in there, I will have my visa valid till June next year (I guess as my MR is of 1st June this year)

Thanks
Pritpal

Just try to bring as much money as u can.. it will buy u more time and less worry when looking for a job.
I heard that year end isn’t the best time for job hunting.
Accepting job from the retail or restaurant industries will not be a problem as it is available anywhere.
They said that it should be okay for the first three months of next year though.

I will be landing also on November 2015.. So fingers crossed!

Unless newly purchased & unworn, you would just write "clothes, X$ (X=estimated $ value of all clothing)". no need to itemize: you are really overthinking this!! ;)

Thanks much appreciated

Under current regulations, you need to spend 730 days (2 years) in each 5 year period in Canada to maintain your PR.

So, in your case, you could remain outside Canada until 22/7/2018. HOWEVER, this would mean that you would then need to remain in Canada *without leaving* at all until you reach 730 days presence counting backwards from the date of your return.

Hi Guys,
Did landing today at Ottawa. Very few people at airport, so got to the officer quickly who redirected me to the immigration office. We were the only ones in the immigration office, so our process got over real quick.
Officer did not ask for POF(but I had all the docs just in case). He took my Canadian mailing address, but did not take my pre-filled new PR card application or passport photos - he said all that was done electronically and there was no need for me to submit a paper based new PR card app. He got the COPRs signed & attached to our passports.
Gave the B4 & B4A forms to the next officer & that was it.

In all it took about 35 minutes only.

I hope all the people waiting for their apps will get it over with soon too.

Thanks guys !

I just had 1 doubt about the landing process. I asked the officer to confirm that I can use the COPR to re-enter Canada 'by road' only & NOT via any commercial transport(e.g. airlines). I read this couple of times on the forum before.

But surprisingly the officer said - NO & I could use COPR to re-enter Canada via any commercial transport also.

This is for cases where the PR card is yet to arrive by mail & needs to re-enter Canada.

Anyone has more info regarding this ?

It all depends on what passport you are holding.

Yes you are right, but who will let u travel to Canada? suppose u dont have visa then how will u travel from Dubai to Canada. but from USA u can come by road crossing and u can show COPR to enter in Canada. going out of USA will not bother u.
hereis cic.gc.ca details
The permanent resident card (PR card)
If you travel outside Canada, the permanent resident card is your proof that you are a permanent resident of Canada. If you leave Canada, you will need this card to re-enter the country on a commercial vehicle, like an airplane, boat, train or bus.

Canadian permanent residents need to show their permanent resident card when travelling to Canada in order to prove their permanent resident status. Permanent residents who do not have a PR card, or who are not carrying their PR card when travelling outside the country, will need to obtain a Permanent Resident Travel Document before returning to Canada by air mode in order to comply with eTA requirements.

If your permanent resident card expires, it does not mean you have lost permanent resident status.

Great, you answered my question, no new photos is required, those on the COPR are sufficient.
