I am planning to land in Vancouver airport. How much time shall I expect from plane touch down to getting outside to taxi? 2-3 hours?

Also, is there Service Canada at YVR airport? Can I get my made SIN card made there?

Also, I am carrying half of funds in cashiers cheque and other half in cash. Is it okay? Is cashier cheque issued by American Bank valid?

Please let me know.

Thanks,

Any advice is appreciated:

I am landing next week, but I don't have address, yet. So I will be notifying CIC about my mailing through online notification system. I see that it does not take my spouse information; just recognize my info (UCI/APPLN NUMBER).

So my question is how will I notify about my spouse pr mailing address? Or I just have to fill in my information and my sponsored spouse's PR card will be automatically mailed to my address also?

Thanks,

That's a reasonable estimate, but can vary considerably depending on what time you land, & how many other panes are landing around the same time

Note that SIN cards are no longer issued - you'll get a number on paper.

Yes and yes. Don't forget to declare the cash if it's over 10k, even if the CBSA agent forgets to ask you about it!

Please let me know.

Good luck with your landing!

Hi all,

Does anybody know the procedures of adding the wife after getting the immigration visa?
which option is better? landing then marriage or marriage first?

I'm currently single, and I plan to find a spouse and get married before moving there.

What stage of the process are you at right now? If you don't have a visa yet, and you get married, you can add your wife to your application.

If you already have a visa, and you get married, your visa will be cancelled, your file re-opened, and your wife added to your application and you will be issued new visas together (hopefully, but no guarantees!).

If you already have a visa you have to land before the expiration date otherwise the visa is no good and you have to start from scratch.

Do you think it's wise to set for yourself a deadline for finding a spouse? ;D

I heard there are four ports of entry available for newly immigrants. Can you guys tell which are those?

If ALLAH wills, I will be going to winnipeg Manitoba, in that case can I choose Calgary as my port of entry?

Any airport that receives flights from overseas will be able to process your landing. But don't land in Quebec.

They will all be sent to the same address.

If your spouse already has an address in Canada, why not just use that address as soon as you land?

If your spouse's address is outside of Canada, they won't mail the cards there.

My landing in Vancouver was 2 hours, you can't get sin in vancouver airport. I was not asked for proof of funds or goods to follow list, not even a question how long do i stay, only about marital status, and background check question.

Friends,

I have received my stampted passport and COPR. I need to land in Canada before April 20, 2016.

I don't intend to settle in Canada right away, I plan to go there for a couple of months in March 2016 to see and understand... I plan to settle there after a couple of years.. I have two questions:

1. My son's passport expires in May 2016, So I will need to get it renewed before we leave india in March 2016. Would it have any impact on Visa that is there in his passport?? Can I carry both passports for him. (Thats usually done in case of long term visa of USA I know from a relative)

2. As proof of funds, I need to carry about 19K CAD.
2a. Would this amount get revised for the year 2016, as the website mentions that it is revised every year.
2b. Can I carry a Prepaid card for this funds? Is it allowed??
2c. Can a limit of 10000 CAD cash is per person, or per applicant.

Awaiting reply,

Thanks,

Yes, but it doesn't usually vary a lot

You have to be able to show how much funds you have available. Can you do this with a prepaid card?

2c. Can a limit of 10000 CAD cash is per person, or per applicant.
You are *not* limited to 10 000 cash per person; it's just that you have to declare any amount over 10k.

Awaiting reply,

Thanks,

Hope this helps.
