Canada visa stamp in passport is valid only for one entry. That is why you need the Permanent Residency Card.

Not a problem. Just carry both passports when travelling to Canada.

I have one question from all seniors who already landed and got their PR cards.

I want to know that when address is updated in ECAS? When PR cards are issued, it is automatically updated in the ECAS, the canadian address, or we need to update it ourself?

My friend landed on April 20, till date, he has not got any mail in the address he provided, neither his address in ECAS has been updated. I have landed on May 26, same is the case with me, but for me, only 25 days have gone passed so i am not worried.

More than 60 days have gone passed for my friend, and he is still waiting for the PR card.

Seniors, please advise what to do now? Whether he should call CIC helpline and update his address or he should manually update his address himself in ECAS or he should wait till PR cards are issued and this address might be updated automatically at that time.

Waiting for the comments of seniors...

As long as you gave a canadian address to the officer during landing, there's no action needed from your side. You don't have to update anything on ECAS.

PR card processing times currently are currently about 72 calendar days according to cic website so it could be still under processing (not sure what the processing time was last april). If i were in your friend's shoes i would call cic and ask for the status of the PR card.

1. yes there is a service canada location at pearson airport
2. no idea. but dont worry too much about it, if you find it closed at the airport upon your arrival - you can always get it at any other service canada location it wouldn't take more than 5 minutes.
3. ofcourse not. you can land at anytime and your landing formalities will be processed. Just like any other airport in the world immigration/passport control don't close.

I and my wife going to land in Canada sin around Nov. She would be 7 month pregnanat by that time. Pleaes advice on health care as Ontario ask for 90 days time to issue health card while Alberta gives health coverage on arrival.

This would be our primary point of concern to settle as we will be there for approx 4-5 months & will return.

Please advice

Visa remains valid on the old passport and it would be mentioned in your new passport also that your visa is valid from expired or cancelled passport.

it looks that alberta would suit your health needs better.

since you will be staying for up to 5 months why don't you look for a job and settle permanently?

Hi All,

I got my PR stamped during last month, but due to some unavoidable issues, I can only land in Toronto during August,2015. I came to know that most of the I.T hiring happens during feb to june. Is this true ? Can some one please suggest whether I should go in August or make an entry, comeback and wait till next year?

I will be going with my wife and we both need to leave our jobs here, which looks like a risk to me. But, again we dont want to wait till next year. I seek help from the people who are in process of landing or already landed in knowing the pros and cons of landing in August this year.

Thanks in advance

For proof of funds at the time of landing, what can be shown as the proof.

... I'am planning to take a cash/card of about 5000 cad and the remaining
... I will take a bank certificate from SBI, showing that I have readily availble funds.

Will this be sufficient or will there be any issues.

Thanks,

Hi Sakthi,

For most of the people who landed during the recent months, Immigration dint even ask to show the proof of funds.
But, to be safe it is better to carry a travellers check or cash with the same or more amount of funds showcased in the application.

Good luck Sakthi :) :) :)
