DownTown, Toronto is the area for most of the IT companies. The rent paid at downtown for 1BHK is usually expensive over other parts of the city. You can chose East York, North York or Mississauga for cheaper alternatives. They are well connected by public transit.
1BHK I would say is about 1000-1200$, with 2 month rent in advance to be paid.

Can somebody share these details about Toronto:
which area is near to IT companies in toronto ?
how difficult is it to search for a 1 BHK ? and the rent expected for 1 BHK?

Hi Tag4u,

Is it really possible not to carry POF if you are coming for short landing?

Secondly, If we have shown the POF upon our first landing, then in any case, will immigration officer ask for POF during second(or subsequent) landing in Canada.
Have we seen any cases where immigration officer ask to show POF on second(final) landing?

Why i'm asking this is because i have plan to spend money after our short landing and for second landing I wont be having sufficient funds... Please help

Seriously?? No POF at all while first landing??...Wow dude....no other words...

Hi All,
I am wondering if there is anyone here who is planning to land in Ottawa. I have heard great things about Ottawa so thinking of making it as my second home. In the most recent survey in Money Magazine, Ottawa has been ranked as the 2nd best city to live in Canada.

If there is anyone here who is landing in Ottawa please PM, it will be nice to connect with you/your family in Ottawa.

Cheers!

Hi, i have a family of 3, so i need to carry around CAD 18,260 as POF which is about PKR 1.6 Million.
I am also planning to carry CAD 5,000 in cash and rest in the form of demand draft in my name.

will it be fine?

What if some one borrow some funds to show as POF. Is this possible to return those borrowed funds to the home country after successful landing?
What is the way?

Companies are scattered around the GTA, so you might probably look for an apartment that is close to the transport network (Bus/Subway/Go) and once you find employment you can then decide on which area would be more convenient for you.

to be able to rent an apartment without being employed you will most likely be asked for a cosigner, so if you have friends already working here they would be able to help you.

1BHK generally start from a $1000 and goes up (depending on location, building, ..etc)

you would be fine to carry an amount in cash and the rest as a draft cheque.

The funds should be yours so you shouldn't borrow this money from someone else - however if you did, the officers wouldn't know unless you tell them.

After you land you can do what you want with your funds, CIC wouldn't be tracing you.

However, if the funds are not yours - what is your plan to settle in canada then? How are you going to manage your expenses until you find employment? The funds stated by CIC are only the minimum requirement, but in reality you could need much more - i would recommend that you bring savings that would last you for at least a year.

Visa & Passport related queries.

Need your view.

We got our Passport stamped with Single entry visa last month (i.e in May 2015) with validity until first week of Dec 2015 for my family.

I have few queries here
1) Is it require whole family to travel together? Or Main applicant can go first and then rest of the family can join before first week of Dec.
2) To get PR card, does whole family needs to be in Canada first or if let say Main applicant goes first then he will get it first.
2) My son passport is valid until 5th Dec 2015. it has one Singly entry Canada visa which was stamped last month. will there be any issue in travelling or ticket booking because his passport would be valid for a period of less than 6 months. We are planning to fly in July .
3) Can I renew my son passport now? Would there be any issue in flying then with new passport.

100 minutes is more than sufficient for you to complete the transit formalities. You'd land most probably on Gate C, don't waste any time watching maps/boards etc but go straight to the area where a train leaves for Gate A. As I said earlier, it would take max 15 minutes for you to reach the train and in 5 minutes you'd be in Gate A. On Gate A, you should be completing security checks which would take another 15 minutes. So in about 30-40 minutes you will be ready to go to your gate. Once you complete your security, check on the screens nearby where is your flight departing from.

Toronto flights is usually scheduled on gate B, so another train journey. Also this flight is usually delayed for about 15-20 minutes almost every day. So all in all you should be in the next flight gate in about 45 minutes after you land.

Dear All

I plan to land in Toronto and stay for a month and come back , During my landing i intend to give a PR address in Edmonton of friends of us .

Also i Intend to come back to Edmonton after a couple of months as my wife would settle there to give birth ( Thanks to Leon , I already know she should stay for 6 /12 months )

My question are the following and I would be really grateful if somebody who is sure could answer

1- Is there a problem giving a PR address of Edmonton even if i don't intend to go to that city in the first landing ?

2- If i Don't apply for health card at Ontario , would it be possible to apply for Alberta health care upon our 2nd landing at edmonton and get insurance from first day ( this is really important as my wife would be at late pregnancy ) ??
or I should Waite for 3 months because i would be considered moving from TORONTO ?

3- Regarding SIN , do you advise I apply for it at toronto when i land or its better to postponed it till next visit when we settle permenantly in Edmonton and apply for health card with SIN together

4- If I open a bank account At TAD or SCoti at Toronto upon landing , would it be easy to change the address of my bank upon 2nd landing in Edmonton and get a ( BANKS STATEMENT with my Edmonton address on it right away ) ,,, or i would have to open a New account in Edmonton .

Thanks all for your Help , I couldnt make it to here without this wonderful forum

1. that shouldn't be a problem

2. yes you can apply for the alberta health card upon second landing. you don't have to wait 3 months upon second landing - alberta provides coverage since the first day you move to the province

3.SIN has nothing to do with the province. it is provided by "service Canada". you can apply for it on your first landing or second landing - as you wish.

4. yes you can open a bank account in toronto and later update the bank with your new address in alberta upon second landing
