hi thanks for this thread

can anyone pls help me on one issue ? I need to land from USA to canada . How should I show my proof of fund ? I dont want to take full cash. But I am not sure about cashier's check . is there anyone who landed with some other means ?

pls help anyone ..

thanks

I landed two days ago with about 4 thousand dollars cash and my statement of account. The immigration only asked for the amount i carried on me and I told her 4 thousand dollars and she said thats perfect with no further questions. You can carry small amount in cash and the remaining in cashier check if need be. Cashier check will just serve as a proof if per adventure they asked for the total POF (not likely though).

Cheers and happy landing.

Nope, they didn't look at the statement. I didn't tell them since they did not ask. They only ask for the Amount I carried on me and I told them the amount of cash only.

I don't want to carry cash especially when I am going there just to land and come back asap.

will the bank statements work?

I have accounts in Bank of America however I can switch to TD bank since it is also available in Canada.

I think you can just show a statement from Bank of America. Since the money is readily available from any ABM across North America.

I have just received my stamped passport through VFS. can someone tell me how long will it take to get me my file with original documents back from NDVO?

I just got my PR visa and planning to move to Canada in next few months. I have some questions and would be grateful if someone experienced can share his/her views.

- Which airline should I prefer from India.

- Where should I book the air tickets? Is it advisable to use online sites like makemytrip, travelocity etc?

- Is there any way to book a cheap yet safe accommodation from India?

- I have AEO but if I get any better opportunity can I move to another city? Will there be any problem if I go somewhere else? Will it affect my prospects for citizenship or anything else?

Airline choice should be based on your budget, time and final destination. I flew Jet and did not face any issues, it was the cheapest as well (a year ago )
I booked using make my trip, because they had a cash back offer, again a person decision. Any website which gives you the best deal, go for it!
You can book a hotel or bed and breakfast within the city limit for couple of days. Once here, you could go around a look for a place to rent
My understanding is that only PNP applicants are obliged to stay in a city. I would let the other experienced folks to comment on this.

Thank xylene for the reply.

Yes, only PNP applicants are restricted. AEO applicants can move somewhere else. But, I was concerned about later stage.

I have AEO and, now, have got a better opportunity in another city. If I move to somewhere else without joining AEO employer, will there be any problem at the time of citizenship?

I don't think you will have any problems with citizenship. Except that you are leaving a bad record with this employer, which might affect future employment opportunities (there is always background check). I think if some company is offering you arranged employment (very hard to get these days especially when you are overseas) you should work there considering that is the professional thing to do !
Having said that, its your choice to move out if you do not like the job as its not bonded labor !! :)

AOA WRWB

how long it take from PPR1 to PPR2.

Guys,

Hi Guys,

I am finally set to land in May first week in Calgary. I have one question regarding the POF.

1) As I understood from the previous posts, POF is not only shown at the time of application but also at the time of landing (although in one of the previous posts, one brother does not agree that we are required to show the POF while landing), but I will go with what the majority feels secure with. Any thoughts on this?

2) its just me and my wife going for two weeks, I dont think we will spend more than $5000 and this is what I am taking in cash and the rest $10K in DD on my name (which I will most probably bring back to my bank and will have that cancelled). I hope all this will suffice my POF. Question is that this cash of $5000 needs to be only CAD or I can carry USD in place of CAD? will they consider my USD cash as part of POF?
