Dear All,

This is a great forum and without this we would have been in lost. : )

I have finally taken my landing (the experience was great no - issues at all) and applied for SIN cards and PR as well. Also went to schools in BC for kids but they need tenancy / ownership of a house in order to secure a spot for kids in the schools which is okay.
I am back in to be home country as there are things open (apartment / property to be wrapped up) I will be going back in due course. However when exiting from Canada no stamped the passport was given (exit entry) and hence following questions come to my mind - please clarify.

1. How would Canadian immigration count my duration of being outside Canada?
2. Can my family start to live in canada before i wrap up from my current place of stay?
3. Do I need to still stay for 3 yrs. In order to be eligible for citizenship or the law has been changed?
4. I still have job in outside Canada and looking for one in Canada, Do I have to pay tax for what I earn in outside?

Please advise – and thank you in advance.

Hi,

Did u receive ur PR cards? or did u exit without them? In case you did not, how r u planning to get them or go back to Canada next time? Asking bcos ur answer could help other applicants.....

1. They know as everything is done electronically. But the onus is on applicant to keep track of their visits outside Canada and to keep note of residency obligations.
2. Yes each case is now treated individually as regards to residency. They can live, work, study, do whatever in Canada while you go wrap things up
3. Check CIC website for details. Citizenship requirements may change, but noteable is that they expect people to make Canada their primary home rather than just spending time for getting citizenship and then leaving.
4. No need. Just pay taxes when u start working in Canada. Anything before settlement is not their concern

Hi Guys

Need advice on my case...

If I succeed, I will get my VISA some where in Feb / March.

My PP expiry is Dec, 2014

I'm not planning to go with my Family for the landing.
Also, I would like to come back to my current place after doing 1st landing.
I may go back to CA with family after 1 - 1 1/2 years...

Pls advise the +ves and -ves in my plan

Thanks in advance
Dear,
First of all get your passport renevewed so it Canad visa is stamped on a passport with maximum life.
In any case you will have clear 12 months visa validity from the date of your medical tests done.
Every family member will have its own individual visa stamped and expirinig after 12 month of medicals OR expiry of passport if it is earlier.

You have to land first of all, being PA, after which any member can land individually before expiry.
Good luck

Hi,
can anybody please advise if it is allowed to bring spices while landing.

Thanks

Sir

Yes , both of my sister have carried these , and there were no issues at Toronto Airport. How ever if flying from Pakistan , customs will make this sure that they do not have any narcotics etc

Stay Blessed

Dear Qorax/ PRs,

Please advise....
how to find accommodation in Calgary for short stay, may be a for month.
In my country i work as an accounts payable for an int'l oil & gas co, will it help to land a good job? as all oil & gas cos maintain same standard. Or what sort of course will speed up to land a similar job?

Hi guys, I'm about to "Land" soon. Do I need to fill in the IM5444 form before I land? And I'm confused about the last 5 years addresses. Do I have to provide my pre landing addresses?

Dear All

In my application I mentioned Intended destination: Edmonton

Now when i have visa with COPR, in COPR they have mentioned landing destination: Edmonton

But I want to go to Toronto now, Is it possible? Should i need to inform CIC to change the destination name in COPR?

Please reply fast, as I need to book tickets today only

Hi KhalidSi,

I have question here.

You said "I am back in to be home country as there are things open" , this means did you left Canada without PR card ?

if YES then are you planning to go back to Canada without PR card ?

Please reply , as I need to know the correct procedure.

I also intend to come back to my home country for some time before make a permanent move , I need to know that if I exit Canada without PR card , can I come back to Canada WITHOUT PR CARD with me ?

~ Thanks,
Rahul

thanks a lot Katayoon. So how can i contact them before landing? Is it ok to commute with other places specially where i will have to go in early days. Is it just for a month?

I would be very grateful if you can kindly guide me on what sort of course should i follow to land a similar job(accounts payable)

Thanks & regards.

Hello,

I hope someone here can help me. I got my PR approved and just received my COPR and visa a few weeks ago. I already live in Canada, but I will be going back home for a short visit in a couple of weeks and I will do my landing when I return. Since I already live here, do I need a list of accompanying goods? all I will have with me is a suitcase with clothes and personal effects from my trip, but there will be nothing following.

If I do need it, should I pre-fill it or fill it out at the border?

Thanks
