Thank you, Rizmayo....I was having this doubt because I read in the forum that it will delay our case for a longggg time...hence, I was a little skeptical about this...

Why do you want to go to USA just to get your immigrant visa? Inform them that you are in India and cannot travel for this.

It won't delay your case (at least not beyond the effort for you travel to USA), as they have already decided to give you the visa.

Hi Guys,

How long did it take anyone of you to get your passport back after passport delivery in Ottawa?

My passport reached in Ottawa office couple days ago and I included Xpresspost prepaid label. So far not activity is showing up under the tracking number.

When can I expect?

Thanks

Experts,

I need some advice regarding sending Passports from USA to Ottawa...

I am trying to buy and print label from Canadapost...what should I fill in the "From" address?? (should it be the CIC address mentioned in PPR e-mail?)

Also, what should I fill in the "Unit Value" for passports in the Custom Declaration form? and do I need to mention in the Customs form about COPR or mentioning about passports is good enough?

Kindly let me know...

Dear Forum Members,
I received my passport with immigrant visa on 31st May & is valid till 28th of April 2015. We plan to land sometime during Sept-Oct 2014. Have a quick question to which I am seeking your support...

My Indian Passport expires in June 2015. Hence my question is "Do I renew my passport now in India or is it possible to get it done once we land in Canada? Kindly advise.

Hi Guys

I immigrated to Canada (Toronto) during the past week. It was a pretty long flight from Chennai. I took the British Airlines which took approx 20 hours. I landed in Toronto at 7.00 PM.

My immigration process was the smoothest. All it took was just 30 minutes to complete the process. As soon as i landed i was asked to take the new residents que where my passport was verified. Then i was directed to the immigration counter. The officer had a look at my confirmation of permanent residence and passport. She asked to sign on both the copies of confirmation of permanent residence one was their copy and the other was mine.

Then i filled up the application for PR card with a local address. I was informed that PR card will generally take 6-8 weeks to get dispatched. I was not asked for proof of funds or any other documents. Then i was directed to take SIN. SIN process was just 5 mins. He will ask you couple of questions and then he will hand over a print out of SIN confirmation.

Then i was directed to another officer who asked me for goods to follow. I had no goods to follow currently. She filled a nil report and got it signed from me.

Thats it. I was all done with the process. I can me out of the airport by 8.00 PM. Fortunately, it is summer here in Toronto and there was enough sun light then. I took the Aero Express to reach to my hotel in downtown Toronto.

My first week in Toronto was excellent. I managed to take a local number here. I also opened a bank account. By and large my first to do's in Canada are done except getting a job here. I am in the process of finding a suitable job here.

I have meet Indians, Chinese, Italians, Romanians, Romans, Americans, Pakistanis and who not. Its a completely mixed culture here. People are helpful as well.

Go to US border, return back to Canada to complete your landing process and then you will become a Canadian Permanent Resident. That's it.

Thank you so much for that, Do I have to carry any documents [like financial docs etc ]?
And some people say that I should not travel by chartered Bus like Greyhound or Megabus ? Could you please clarify these doubts ?

Thanks

Hey!

I recently got my passport back with visa stamped on it from Islamabad Office. However, I still have not received any of my original documents back, that I submitted to CIC at the time of applying. Can anyone guide me as to how I should get my originals back? And will I get them in Pakistan or when I land in Canada? What I have heard is that they give it to the sponsor and not the applicant but I'm not sure. Can someone please confirm? I am supposed to land on 3rd July so I dont have much time.

Will really appreciate the help!
