Upon landing,
Do I need to declare the gift items of cost less than 60 CAD
Do I need to keep the receipts of gift items in order to show the price ?

Hello,
I and my wife drove from the US (not citizens) to Canada and did our short landing in October. We are expecting our PR cards very soon. Our baby will be born in January in the US. Since my wife was pregnant at the time we did our short landing, we could not declare the baby stuff we would like bring with us when we will move for good in May.
So my questions:
1. How much should we expect to pay for customs fee for our baby's stuff? (car seat, crib, mattress, toys, etc)
2. Can we bring our own baby car seat? It is Britax brand and I know it is sold in Canada too but not sure if the seat has to be bought from a Canadian retailer or so. (Since we will drive from the US, we will have our baby in his car seat but are we required to buy a new one in Canada?)
I would also very much appreciate if you share your experiences about moving with the other baby products.
Thank you.
1) Probably none; just be honest
2) yes you can buy from US

Hello friends,

I am getting ready to land in Canada soon. I am a bit confused about the settlers effect list. for this, i need to fill the form BSF-186, I do not have goods coming later so no need for the form BSF186A.

But I do not understand how to categorize the info as I am taking only personal stuff nothing special --- clothing items (all types i.e. jeans, t-shirts, pullovers, jackets etc.), toiletry kit, shoes etc which are packed in two different bags and cabin luggage that has a laptop and some documents.

1. Do I have to fill a separate form or prepare a separate list for each bag?
2. Can I group every type of clothing item packed in both bags combined in just one item clothes
or
I have to group them separately like jeans, pullovers, jackets etc. and for each bag separate combination

please help will be appreciated. thank you
Very Good question, I am also want to know more about this and put the same question of forum.
Did anyone reply on this? if not please repost.

Do you still get a passport request (PPR) if you already have a visa? I have a 10-year multi-entry visa for Canada. Will i need to submit my passport for PR visa stamping or can I just travel on my tourist visa to complete landing after getting a COPR?

Hi,

I'll be traveling from India to Toronto, via London and Montreal.
Please let me know where would the immigration check be happening.
Also, let me know where would I be claiming my luggage.

The destination in my CoPR is Toronto.

Thanks in advance.

It'll be Montreal, which may or may not be tricky since QC has it's own immigration program.

Hello! Congratulations on your success! However, your answers are as follows,

Q.1 > Ans. > You can land anywhere wherever you wish except Quebec (eg. Montreal) as they need CSQ # which I hope you don't have. Still you can do that but you have file you landing formalities by your own at local immigration office. And also if you are a PNP applicant then still you can land anywhere except Quebec but you have to stay on that particular Province.

Q.2 > Ans. > If something happens like that to you & your family then you & your family have to apply for PRTD (Permanent resident travel document) at you local Canadian Mission/VFS outside Canada. With this document you can re-enter Canada as a Permanent Resident without PR Card. Visit visa(s) are not applicable for you in this regard.

Hope you got all your answers.

Regards

Hi guys! Some great info here.

Myself, my wife and my two children are planning to land in February. We are thinking of landing and staying for a week or so before heading back to our home country to tie up loose ends.

We have a few questions:

No1 - COPR indicates British Columbia as our final destination however initially we were thinking of landing in Toronto (direct flights) and spending the week there before heading back. Is it absolutely necessary that we go straight to BC as per the COPR or will immigration allow us to be in ON for the period with no issue? Do we have to follow through with exactly what is written on that COPR?

No 2: We had an extended family member face an issue where they left the country while the PR was being processed and there was an issue with their photographs or something and Immigration wanted them to come back in to take it at the offices. We are concerned that if we leave the country before receiving the PR card that should anything go wrong we will be faced with more drama. It also states somewhere that in some cases PR cards may be required to be collected personally.

No 3: If we were indeed to be faced with any issue can we be granted Visitors Visas to fly back up to collect the PR cards personally?

Can anything provide some guidance on the above? Thanks!

Hello!
Your landing formalities would be done at Montreal but remains incomplete because Quebec needs CSQ # which you don't have! However, after entering through Montreal you have to visit local immigration office at Toronto to complete your landing formalities.

Hi all,
My wife just received an email from CIC saying that her photo does not meet the required specifications. I am the primary applicant and it looks like they accepted mine as I haven't received any email. We had our photos taken at the same place at the same time and don't know what the problem is with her photos. The important point is that in the letter it says if she doesn't provide the right photos in 30 days, her application will be considered cancelled. We have only one place that takes Canada passport pictures in our town. Should we drive to the nearest city and get more photos and then send all of them to CIC to be on the safe side? Please advice. Thank you
