Dear All,
As a SINP applicant, I am intending to land in Saskatoon and booking my tickets by Jet Airways Hyd-Delhi-Toronto-Saskatoon. I understood all the landing formalities and SIN will be done at Toronto itself. My agent has suggested me for Toronto Saskatoon flight on next day and its one night layover at Toronto. My doubts are:
Whether it is OK for one night layover at POE before landing or I have to take immediate next available flight?
In this transit the baggage will be directly go to Saskatoon or I have to take it back and again book for Saskatoon?
For re-booking this luggage in to domestic flight whether airline charge for extra weight?
Please advice.

Have read about a declaration card/form when landing, is this a requirement?

If so, do i have to have it filled before landing? What do i include in it?

Please provide me with a link to it.

If i am carrying 10,000 CAD and my husband is carrying 6,000 CAD do we have to declare it? Because in total it's more than 10,000 CAD?

This card will be given to you on the plane before arriving Canada. And yes, you have to declare amounts CA$10,000 and over.

Here's the link to the sample landing card http://www.cbsa.gc.ca/publications/forms-formulaires/e311-eng.pdf

Give your husband $8K and put the rest of $8K with you and both fo you don't have to declare. However, you still have to fill declaration form. (If you have $9,999... You don't have to declare. If you have $10K, you have to declare)

You will get this card in plane, before landing. Also declare anything which is a product or a by-product of dairy, meat or seed. Non-declaration could result in Fines of around $800 and above. (However, they hardly checked my bags upon landing)

As the principal applicant is accountable for showing POF for all the family, i would recommend that the declaration form reflects that too. I.e. the principal applicant should assume ownership for declaring the funds and showing the POF. The reason behind my recommendation is consistency, you shouldn't be telling the immigration officer one thing and then later (by not declaring) - give the customs officers a different message.

What i'm saying is the amount filled by the immigration officer in the COPR should match the information filled in the declaration card. There's no harm in declaring..you wont be taxed on it or wont be asked to do anything than to sign a form indicating how much funds are in your possession and you'll be free to go.

It's always a good idea to declare. By declaring, you are only making your life easier.
When you go to deposit this money the very next day in a bank, you will always have a legal proof explaining the source of money.
Also, this money is totally duty free since you are landing for the first time. So I don't see the harm.
I seriously do not understand why so many people on this forum are so scared of declaring their money.
I declared 22K CAD even when I had nothing in cash with me.
All my money was still in my Indian account, which I was planning to withdraw through ATMs in Canada.

You can take a night's rest in Toronto. No harm.
You will need to collect your bags when you arrive in Toronto. It's a general rule that in destination country, you always need to collect your bags at international arrival and then drop them again at domestic departure. In source country, you drop bags when you check in on the domestic flight and it automatically gets transferred to your connecting international flight.
You will need to then take your bags through customs.
You will then need to check in to your subsequent flight to Saskatoon and give the bags.
You won't be charged anything as your are not really re-booking. Your connecting flight is on the same PNR.
In fact you will most likely get boarding passes for this flight as well when you start your travel in India.

The process is same irrespective of the duration of layover, i.e. 3-4 hours or overnight.

I would never risk my immigration if I have even 10% of doubt regarding Fixed Deposits. In 2010, FDs were fine, however nowadays, CIC's official link doesn't state FD as acceptable proof.

Some people have mentioned stating Section 15 of Form IMM5612E (Page 5 of 7) where fixed deposit statements are acceptable, however they must be unencumbered and readily transferable funds.
