1. Most airlines do not allow a heavier/oversized bag (as part of your ticket). this is because of two reasons one it won't fit in their compartments also difficult for their staff to load/unload it.Cool Canada said:Dear all who already landed.....
Just few question regarding the travels to Canada. We are family of five 2 adults, 1 child and 2 infants. We will be travelling by Qatar airways to Calgary. I just want to know what is the weight person allowed, number of bags/suitcases/backpacks that is allowed per person. If it is mention on the airline website that two bags are allowed each of 23kgs, is it possible to take one bag of 30kgs and the other of 13kgs. Also are we allowed to carry goods in cartons as crockery/artifacts/paintings/decorative items and other utensils cannot be accommodated in suitcases?
We are thinking not to do a cargo and carry with us in check in luggage.
Thank you in advance

You may end up paying them for oversized baggage.
2. You can carry crockery etc, but then pack it well. Again with oversized baggage, you may be charged extra. You can call them and mention the dimensions and they could let you know the charges.
For some perspective a 42 inch TV would be checked in as your allowance, but a 47 inch TV would not be and they would charge for oversized baggage even though it is < 23kgs (from experience Emirates).
