My Landing Experience
From DHK to IST on Turkish Airlines [appx. 9 hours]
in dhk airport had to pay 1k for each ticket as we bought the tickets before July 01, 2014. they gave a receipt though. foreigners were furious about that.
at immigration the officer didn't say a word. he only took my photo not my wife's so I asked (!) why my photo??? 8) he said the previous photo was not good at their data base, so he took a new one!!
my POF was 14720 CAD, I took 10600 $CAD + 2500 $USD + Stocks, all were in my back pack, it went though the machine, no body asked me anything except for the guard who was checking my pockets and saw some bangla taka & said "কত টাকা নিয়া যান??" i said "বেশি নাই রে ভাই!!"
then as usual, the flight got delayed due to a group of French students obviously the delay was due to that extra 1k for each one of them and they were a large group.
after boarding nothing happened actually, cause the seats were kind of small for people above 5'8", u can't move that much (completely my experience). we took off after 25 minutes from the schedule time, but got to istanbul 7 minutes earlier than the schedule time! (সেই রকম টানছে!! )
we had total 10 bags!! weighing as follows: 27+24+25+11+15+22 and 2 laptops + 1 blanket + 1 large good looking zipper bag!!
The Terminal at IST
at the airport u'll have to go through a security check first then to the terminal, at the terminal there are some brand shops & souvenir shops & food corners, there's also a money exchange, i changed 30 CAD and got 56 lira, for eating only!! they also take international cards. try to find a cart as soon as u get there, it'll be easier to move around with one cart than with 4 bags!!
now, the interesting part, u'll find it very difficult to understand where u should go, so do not hesitate, just ask the man in the info booth for information, s/he'll tell u the rest. i couldn't find the flight no. in the board, so finally i asked at the counter and he told me where to go, and when I got there they were at last call!! now, before entering to the lounge, turkish airport officials will ask to see your passports+copr/ PR cards etc. for security check so don't be worried, they'll also ask u how many bags u checked in from dhaka.
IST to TOR on Turkish Airlines [appx. 11 hours]
now this plane is big, it has individual audio-visual for each person, but again the movement within the seats still uncomfortable. the hospitality is not bad, the food is really good. they gave 2 meals in both the flights. u can watch movies in the audio-visual + TV!! we saw the third-place qualifier match in the plane!! (and i support Germany btw!!)
here u have to fill up the immigration card, it's easy. here's an option says whether u bringing 10k or more n whether u are bringing any plants or not etc.
The Landing
after coming out of the plane we had to walk around 1 km to go to the passport control. when u get there, there'll be 2 segments 1. residents of canada n 2. visitors
as we are the visitors we had to go right and then saw the lines, when we get to an officer, he asked for the papers and asked how much money we are carrying I said around 14k, he wrote it down in the card with a pink marker then wrote some no. with that and then said to go ahead. after that another team was looking at the immigration cards, and there's also a sign saying "pink slips" go this way>>> then we went there and there were around 15 booths with CBSA officers and the queue was really long!! here they check papers and confirm the identity. some officers seem rigid some seem really nice, I saw one talking to the phone for the passengers as she (passenger) couldn't make her (officer) understand, and I saw one got passed thru without a seal & signature, then again another officer came with the passenger and then he signed it off. the environment was really chaotic as the there were quite a few little ones hanging around!! finally our turn came up, we went to the booth, she said hello followed by ask for our papers, after hearing she congratulated us, then she asked the questions in the COPR, then wrote down the address then asked for how much money we are bringing, I again said 14k, she said "all CAD?" i said "no, both CAD & USD" she wrote it down again, then said our PR cards will be mailed to us within 3 - 6 weeks and whether we have any other questions, then showed us the direction to some new comers booths and said "WELCOME TO CANADA"
after collecting some info n brochures we went down stairs to collect the bags, I didn't need any coins to get a cart thou, we gathered our bags in 2 carts then went towards "exit/ sortie".
just when we thought everything ended very smoothly, at the exit the officer showed us another hallway to the CBSA baggage check counters!!! after entering there we saw a lot of people are getting their hands in their heads as CBSA officers are cutting n opening each n every box n bag they are checking!! in front of us there was a women, when she got to an officer, the officer asked how much money is she bringing, i couldn't get the amount but, after that we saw that the officer started counting one by one her 100 dollar bills to check the whole amount!! then we were called to the next available officer, he asked for the card n papers, when he saw we are new immigrants, he congratulated us and said are these all that we are bringing?? we said yes, he said, u sure u'll not say that I have a shipment coming in the next year??!! we said, no we're pretty sure!! then, he said how much money we're bringing? we said 14k.
"Ok, then I'm gonna let u guyz go through, let me take that card (immigration), have a nice day & WELCOME TO CANADA" he said.
he didn't even touched our bags!!! :'(
so we came through the door and found my friend who came to pick us up. and he said, "considering turkish, you guyz came out pretty fast, usually people lost their bags n the baggage claim system is very slow with the turkish." (completely his opinion!!)
Experience
transport system is pretty dam-n good here!! got a new cell phone & opened a bank account without paying a single penny!! what a country!! it's really quiet out here!! come on guyz, let's make some noise here!! ;D

Yes, i was prepared with everything. B4 forms photographs of jewlery, list of over the counter medications so on.... But to my surprise nothing was asked and looked upon. SIN numbers are give in a A4 paper with ur address on the spot. They told me to remember the number and keep it safe. No cards are issued these days hence no cards will be mailed. Opening a bank account is a click job just find a near by location branch with ur address, you will be guided promptly. Its a place to relax. I think its matter of stress till u find a proper settelment. So far so good.
Safe and Happy landing.
mr.Hope said:GOT THE BELOW INFO FROM SOME WHERE ELSE
WHAT U SHOULD CARRY?
U should make 2 copies of the form B4. One for the 'Goods Accompanying' & one for the 'Goods to Follow'. Alongwith the attachments. What's that? Here u go...
STEP-1:
a) Group all similar items into one list & thus make 8 lists.
b) Type these groups in Excel Sheets* [separate for each group]. Title each Sheet. And a Page No.
c) Enlist the Columns as: Sl.No | Item Description | Qty | Value (CAD) |
d) Total the Value, of each Excel Sheet.
e) Take printouts of each Excel Sheet in A4 size paper [2 copies].
*Eg. 1.Electronics, 2.Jewelries, 3.Clothing & Personal Effects, 4.Books & DVDs, 5.Gadgets & Mobile Phones, 6.Cutlery & Utensils, 7.Home Decorations & Murals AND 8.Linens & Drapers. [the Title Heading can vary as per your choice & requirement]
STEP-2:
a) Place all jewelry in Groups* & click Pictures [Must, else they'll not be accepted].
b) Title each Sheet. And put a Page No.
c) Take printouts of each Jewelry Group in A4 size paper [2 copies].
d) Make an Excel Sheet, for the Summary of the Jewelry Sheets. And place a Value against each group.
e) Total the Excel Sheet Value, in the end.
*Eg. 1.Rings, 2.Bangles & Bracelets, 3.Chains & Necklaces, 4.Cummerbunds, 5.Diamond Sets, 6.Ear-Rings & Pendants, 7.Head-Bands & Chokers etc. (each in one group/sheet). [the Title Heading can vary as per your choice & requirement]
STEP-3: [Major Step]
a) Fill-out the form B4, as per the 8 Title Headings AND write the Total Value of each Excel Sheet.
b) Make a box [by hand] at the End of the 8 rows' Value Column. Write the Total Value* of the Goods.
c) For the Name field, write the PA's name.
d) For the Importer's Address, write the Canadian Address.
e) For the Country of Export, write your Home Country's Name.
f) For the Goods to Follow BOX [below the list rows], "Tick" it.
g) At Page-2 of the form B4, "Tick" the Newcomer BOX.
h) Bottom of the Page-2, Sign, Date [the day of Landing] & Location [write your Landing POE's name].
*U must write the Total Value of the entire goods, as that's needed by the CBSA to log on their system.
STEP-4:
a) Print-it out [on regular A4 sheets], both pages [1 & 2] separately.
b) Take 2 printouts [one for the CBSA & one for U, with their Stamp, Sign & Date].
c) Staple all the Excel Sheets & the Jewelry Sheets, into each form B4.
NOTE:
1. Do not forget to take 2 printouts of each form B4 and its attachments. One will be kept by them.
2. Do not forget to take pics of the Jewelry. Else, they'll not accept it*.
3. Do not forget to get it stamped on landing. Sometimes the BSO doesn't ask. It's our prerogative.
*In that case they'll ask u to get it by email & visit the airport the next day for stamping your B4. Though it can be done, but u get into unnecessary hassles, time & effort. And u just have 24 hrs to do so. Which is an avoidable tension. Isn't it?
WHERE TO FIND THE FORM?

Hope that helped.

After reading I really want to land soon...
Mani8585 said:Hi Guys,
Here is my landing experience, I hope it will help some of you.
I lives in Washington D.C., on July 11th (late night) I started my journey with my family on a rental car. Roads were all clear, I reached Buffalo in 8.5 hours, stopped at service area and changed my clothes (as I was driving in pajamas), and started driving toward Peace Bridge, sooner than my expectation I saw sign for Peace Bridge and within no time I was in line at immigration entrance booth. Lady asked for our passports and reason of travel, I told her that we are here to complete our landing process. She scanned passport bar codes gave us a small card and told us to pull our car at second building on the right.
I pulled my car over and all of us (me, wife and kids) went inside immigration office. There was absolutely no other people except immigration and customs staff. Gentleman asked us: "Yes sir, how can I help you?" I gave him the card lady gave us at the booth, he said let me see your documents. I gave him passports and COPR. He started working on his computer, and started filling out COPR. To save some time another immigration officer started helping him with stamping passport, crossing the visa stamp and filling out the COPR.
The immigration asked me following questions:
1. Do you have any address where we can mail your PR cards? I gave him the address printed on a paper in big and bold font to avoid any mistake.
2. Do you have proof of funding? I have him two envelopes, one with cash ($1000) and other with certified checks ($25,000), he didn't check the cash and see the checks without taking them out of envelope and gave them back to me.
3. What do u do for living? I told him just my job title.
It took both immigration officers not more than 15 minutes to fill out our papers. Once done, he stapled COPRs in our passports and read us a disclosure and told us about of rights in Canada. After that he gave our passports back and said you are all set, we thanked him and went to customs desk (10 feet from immigration). I gave them list of belongings and have with me (very small list) and asked them that we have some jewelry back home, can we bring that later, I gave her few details about jewelry typed on a paper. She stamped that paper and stapled it with B4 and gave them back to us and told us to go to cashier and get out receipt. Cashier is right next to the immigration desk (10 feet), I went to him and get the receipt and walked out of the building.
THIS IS IT, no hassle, no questions, smooth landing
Next day I went to Service Canada office and get SINs for me and my family and later that day went to TD Canada Trust and opened bank account and deposited the certified checks.
Next couple day I visited Toronto attractions and went to Niagara falls. Overall it was excellent experience.
If you guys have any specific questions, please feel free to contact me.
Later I will post my experience of coming back to US via rainbow bridge on Automatic Revalidation.
Thanks guys

No, they did not ask for photographs of jewelry. I only gave descriptionSamnov said:Hi guys, we will land in ten days. Can Hi Mani8585,
Thanks for sharing you experience.
I have a question? Did they not ask for photographs for your jewelry which you did not carry with you. Only description was enough?
And is it big Lost between cash and certified check?
Thanks
