Just wondering if anyone has any tips regarding landing from Vancouver Island?

After calls to CIC and CBSA, it seems I have to go over to the mainland and cross the border near Vancouver. I don't want to wait for an appointment, and all the appointments at the regional CIC services offered next week are full.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

Perhaps this calls for a cross border shopping trip...

Hi yorkshirelass

My partner is a yorkshire lad :).

Normally, the Coho ferry from Victoria to Port Angeles is the easiest way to land from Vancouver Island but the ferry is in dry dock as of today for annual maintenance. It will be running again on Feb 6th but with only 1 sailing per day, so you'd have to spend a night in PA. The 2 sail per day schedule (would let you go and return in the same day) starts Feb 14th.

The Clipper ferry, Victoria to Seattle, is another option but it would require you to stay overnight in Seattle, as they only run 1 sailing per day out of Victoria.

If you want to land right away, you can take the Clipper to Seattle with an overnight stay or take the ferry to the mainland and walk across the border (you could easily be back home on the same day, no need to stay overnight anywhere).

If there's no rush and you don't need to land right away, you could just wait for Feb 14th and take the Coho, leave Victoria at 10:30am and be back at 3:30pm.

Thanks CanuckinUK.

But is the Victoria ferry terminals set up for processing PR? I've never taken Coho or Clipper, but my impression is they're small offices?

Every border crossing must be able to process PR landings.

My partner, and others on this forum, landed there.
