Hi there!
Our PR application has been approved and so we are sending the passport to Ottawa for the visa and COPR.
I had some questions about landing for inland applicants.
I am currently in Ontario, working on a PGWP. My husband's OWP application was refused on Feb and so he lost his status (and had to quit job). Since then he has applied for restoration of status as a worker in March. But of course we haven't heard back on that restoration application.
In the meantime, our PR application (FSW) has been approved.
Now I know we can book at appointment at a CIC office or go to the border to flagpole. My questions are:
1. How long does it take to get an appointment at a CIC office? Since my husband can't work till he gets the PR, we want to land as soon as possible.
2. Will it be possible to land at the border as my husband does not have status? I found this on the CIC website, but it doesn't not mention what to do for those who lost status: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/helpcentre/answer.asp?qnum=748&top=22
3. I understand if we land at the border without US visas (we are from a country that REQUIRES a US visa), then we will get an "Administrative Refusal". Does this mean that later when we apply for US visas, we will have to mention this refusal? Do we have to answer yes to the question about being refused a US visa?
If anyone has any answers, or can share their own landing experience, then it would really help me!
Thanks!
naomi
