So I landed in Canada via peace bridge on Wednesday (23 Jan). I rented a car in Buffalo airport and drove straight to Peace bridge ( they do PR landing all 7 days). At the window, officer asked basic questions like are you moving permanently and when are you planning to move permanently and some other basic questions. Also asked about BSF186 form (Goods to declare). He advised to me bring the form next time when I am moving permanently and declare all stuff like laptop, bag of cloths. Then he handed me a pink slip and asked me to park my car at certain spot and go inside the building. I parked and went inside building. Few people were already waiting inside for their PR landing(mostly Indians) and I also joined them after handing over my documents to the officer.

My number came within 30 minuets and i signed all documents and congratulated by the officer for the PR. Officer inside the building also asked about the goods declaration form and I told him that officer outside the building told me to bring it next time. He gave it a thought and after few seconds, he said Okay. I left the building and clicked few photos outside the building in the joy of becoming official PR of Canada.

My next stop was service center to get SIN. I joined the queue and within 10 min I was called. I told the lady behind the counter that I landed just now and here for the SIN. She asked me to come next day as it sometimes takes 24 hours to validate the info. I said I have return flight in few hours and I can't come tomorrow, please try to to it today itself. She said validation goes to back office and its clogging them and backlog is almost a month now. She also said why do you need SIN now as you are now moving as of now, you can get SIN whenever you are coming again. I was not happy and asked her again to try from her end to see if it goes through the system. By thin time she was really frustrated and started blabbering that "I am sick of people arguing and not listening to me, why don't people listen'. I kept quite and handed over my documents to her again and she started typing furiously for next 2 minutes. Thank god it went through and I got the SIN. I thanked her and left the building.

I came back to US via rainbow bridge. Officer asked basic question and asked for I-797 (approval notice) as my stamp was expired and was carrying approval notice. This is it guys.

Let me know if you need anything from me. It was a great experience and a big thanks to all of you guys in this great forum.

Thank you for the super informative post. Did they agree to give you the PR card when you landed or did they say that you will receive their PR cards when you actually move in to Canada for good?
