Hello Friends
I just want to share my landing experience here. It was pretty simple. There are few things i would like everyone to note before landing. Please do bring financial proof along with you. I was asked about the proof of funds. Just a bank statement or a foreign DD would be sufficient. They are not going to ask for last 6 months bank statement or something (Express Entry PR). Also there is no problem in bringing more than 10000 cad. I had brought around 12K and I declared it and there was no issue.
Some tips for new comers
a) Do bring a driving licence particular from your local RTO to help you get your G1 licence here
b) You can use AIR BNB to book a temporary apartment. It is not very expensive and considering the rent is including all utilities and wifi i got an apartment for just CAD 1200 in Toronto
c) Immigration is a very friendly affair. They dint ask me for any declaration for any goods to follow or goods i am bringing (Not sure why). If you got your COPR just sit tight and everything is super easy here when landing.
d) Don't bring any food items since all things are available here. Buy winter cloths from Canada itself
e) It is always good to take JIO sim with International Roaming enabled. It is super cheap. Just Rs 1100 and you get Rs 1100 talk time free. Just Rs 2 per minute to india call and incoming call. You get super cheap data. It was very helpful for us for the first one week.
f) You can bring multi currency forex card ( I got Centrum Axis Bank Card). It is easy to swipe or take cash from ATM here
I had one problem here. I am unable to update the address (for PR card mailing) online using their address change tool. Can someone please help me out how can i change my address ? The tool is saying my client ID or COPR number or Application number is wrong. Let me know if anyone had this issue.
