I have seriously considered doing this, the only reason I held back was out of concern that they could do something with our residency, revoke it, or something...I know that's probably not a valid concern?

I doubt they would do that but I guess there is nothing really to gained my making a complaint, as they let you land eventually. I suppose there are good and bad eggs in the CBSA like any kind of law enforcers, seems you ran into not a very compassionate bunch! This is why the misses and myself are constantly worried at the back of our minds what may happen (with her being out of status with the inland app in progress) and stories like yours makes you think they could be pretty damn strict if they wished as you have done everything legally and they still gave you a hard time!

Absolutely. They're trained to be intimidating dicks! And it works.

They can't do anything to you. You should seriously consider it, if only to try to have those officers educated on the proper and legal procedures and prevent this from happening to someone else. Landing as a PR should never be an intimidating and negative experience.

Well, my landing experience was wonderful! officers were pretty nice. I did not flagpoled though, It was at the airport. I'm used to deal with cbp (usa border officers) and there is not comparison, CBSA officers were so much nicer. I was stressed and nervous coming out of the airplane but it was such a nice and pleasant experience!

Update: My partner did his landing today at the Ogdensburg/Prescot border albeit directly from the US and didn't have any issues with the officers. He said they were a little cranky in the beginning but warmed up. Whole process took 30-45 mins - made him rewrite his BSF186 forms (too generic) but didn't look in the moving truck. Finished with his COPR signing and asked for an address to send the PR card to and he was on his way. So glad this step is over with!!

After reading a few other experiences on the forum it seems to me that this border specifically isn't keen on flagpoling:

Nobody asked you for your landing experience! stop making it about you! I am fed up of this narrative that paints a perfect picture about Canada. Stop trying to negate and undermine this horrible experience somebody just encountered. The truth is Canada's immigration system is progressive and generous but it is also very flawed, exclusive and prejudiced.

This was a clear violation of the IRPA and IRPR, there is no room for such intimidation tactics. Immigration affects lives in unimaginable ways and should not be subject to an irritable officers sentiment. He is clearly not fit for the job!

Prescott/Ogdensburg. It's not a busy crossing, there was no one there.
I've had issues at this border in the past once when coming in with my wife. At a point the guy was threatening me to not let me in as well as possible consequences that would jeopardize my PR application. Then I asked some advice regarding the future, for example if I couldn't come and stay as a visitor with my wife and kid while the process ends and he suggested I should simply try and get a job in some university. He suggested me to do a process that takes well over 6 months while trying to convince me it would be quick. Finally he let me in but he told me he was going to put a note on my file in order for me to show further evidence next time I cross the border. This interaction caused me a lot of aggravation and stress.

Everything was perfect with me at Watertown/1000 lakes and my friends did at another one in QC with no problems at all. I feel you should report this experience you had with Ogdensburg and I'd be happy to share my crossing experience with the proper authorities. These officers are clearly out of the standard behaviour and CIC should be aware of this.

Would should give that person a medal for having a pleasant landing experience. Slow clap

You can book an appointment by calling CIC directly and they’ll book you for the closest office to you. We’re in Ottawa so there’s an office right here, which actually doesn’t take appointments, it’s a walk in process on certain days of the month only.
I'm in Ottawa and landed in Watertown. I did not flagpole but went to US to get grab my stuff in storage and had no problems at all. They were very nice.

My friends flagpolled south of Montreal and there were no issues. Someone else was there flagpolling and landing too.
