Thank you everybody for your best wishes. I am in Victoria. Very beautiful place but slow paced. Canada is not as fast as US, but its totally OK with me. People do not freak out to make money out of you, like in US. I went to few stores and if they do not have something they will tell you where to go. Forget about that in US. Also, in US they consider you as an immigrant who is there to take their jobs/resources, over here so far/amazingly people are really friendly. I am loving it so far. I do not mean that everybody is happy and smiling all the time but the way they approach you or treat you is more friendlier than in US.

They gave me SIN number much like SS# from US. Opened a bank account.

Everything is little over priced (except groceries) over here than in US. Not much though. But consider this. You get a burger for $6 in US and $11 in Canada. But in US its made for consumers, here its made for customers. For $11 its big, and tastes real good. So even though the price is high, it comes with bigger/better portion.

They charge you for a bottle here. I bought 6-pack beer and they charge me 0.40 cents for cans. Same with water bottle (about 0.80 cents). When you return those bottles, they gave you refunds. Funny.

Take care

Thank You.

Hi, i was asked for right of landing fee. Medicals cost us 20,000 for our family of 5. I guess its new dehli. No tracking no.

hi am doing my landing also this june ...my question is are we passing u.s immigration or custom upon entering the canada border or we go straight to canada immigration right away. Thank you

If you are exporting car from US, you need to go to US custom first, then to Canadian side. If not, then directly to Canadian border. Hope it helps.

Thanks, cforcanada, for the interesting story. We will be doing the same, but will hop in an Uhaul ;). Man, we're from TX too, can't wait to move.
