Hello All seniors,

I am a new entry to this thread... I recently got DM status and hoping to get the PPs with stamps very soon...

So I will be needing your exper advices regarding landing formalities etc... I a planning to move in Apri/May Inshallah!!

My POE is Toronto.. I know most of senior here are from Calgary.. However, I hope the landing experience and other formalities would remain the same throughout Canada..

I am waiting for my PPs as soon as I get the duly PPs back I will sart posing my queries

Your experience was very helpful! I am coming from NY, how should I bring things by cargo? and about the declaration of funds I want to bring three quarter in cash and the rest I have in my chase bank account and I have a debit card too;in that case do I need to bring a statement or the debit visa card is enough or I need to bring rest in travellers check, money order or certified check please help! and also how do you make a list of what are you bringing? Item wise or just the name?

Bank statement are fine .

Cargo : speak to airlines or google about cheap cargos.

Check your airlines. Every airlines had its own allowances

Sorry for not being on forum since few days .
Though mostly I use my iPhone to post in forum but trust me life became so busy now days that I hardly get time to do it.
Busy in work and after work spending whole eves in looking for our first house .

I am really confused about bringing crockery from here (Pakistan) as I dont have enough baggage allowance and I will have to book an air cargo if i am bringing some crockery like cookware set and a dinner set..but it will cost me around 16000-20000 for shipping and also will cost me 20000 to buy the crockery here...my relatives abroad have advised me not to bring crockery as i will initially be living wid a relative then move into an apartment..I checked wallmart sites the crockery wasn't so expensive...I am really confused..we r a small family ..me, my hubby and my 5 year old son...Can someone please give me a suggestion wat to do...and also I am planning to settle in Calgary..do the apartment over there have electric ovens or gas? Since my aunt advised me to take cookware made of steel rather than non stick! ........All those already in calgary Please HELP!

I am flying through Emirates and the information that I have are as follows. Checked Beggage max weight 23kg, height+width+length should max be 162 inches. Hand carry or Carry On (cabin luggage) is 7 kg and again height+width+length should max 44 inches.
Please check your airline to get accurate data. We all needed to be accurate because I purchased a suitecase which is oversized, I mean once I fill it with clothings it exceeds 23 kg limit. So do a little research to get maximum benefit of your allowed limit.

Dear Aquib hope you are doing well and busy with your Life ......bro since my case in process and i dont know how is life in CA. kindly tell me how wise is the decission to migrate CA with 2 kids.... and also how easy is to get job in your profession ? what about your job hunt experience so far ? did you get any ?

Although the weight limit is 23kg per luggage, some of the airlines such as Gulf Air, British airways allow up to 25kg free. I got 26kg once with BA. I requested the agent politely and she accepted my luggage without extra charge.

I would advise that you go the other way around. Take 25-40% of your funds in cash and keep the rest in the bank until u have ur bearings in the new country.

Canada is a great country but there are still bad apples there. It would hurt like a bitch if u are robbed on ur first day there of almost all your money by some thug or you just accidentally lose your wallet or something.

Just my opinion.
