Hello,
I applied for inland spousal PR for my wife and we got married 02/14/2019 and I have received my COPR in November 2019 but as I was single at that time I didn’t change my marital status. I got landed on 03/01/2019. I have been asked by CIC to provide an explanation why I didn’t change my status to married. But I genuinely didn’t knew that I have to change my status before landing. Please advise if someone has this experience and how should I respond to CIC to avoid delays and further concerns. I only have 3 days to respond PLEASE let me know

Unfortunately you're in a tough situation. It was mandatory that you add your wife to your application before landing. Because you didn't do that, technically you can never sponsor your wife. The letter / email you received with your COPR specifically instructed you to notify IRCC if there were any changes to family composition (marriage is a change to family composition).

You should respond to the letter from IRCC and confirm the details of your marriage and landing date and explain why you failed to declare your wife. Ask for H&C consideration. It's unlikely IRCC will consider this (i.e. the most likely outcome is a refusal) but it's worth trying.

Assuming the inland application is refused, does your wife qualify to apply for PR on her own through an economic immigration stream like Express Entry? That would be the next step since sponsorship through you will not be possible.

Thank you, when I initially received my copr on November 2019, I was still single so I didn’t do any changes to martial status. I got married on 02/14/2019 and landed on 03/01/2019 which was a short span. After landing on 03/01/2019 I should have said I am married to the immigration officer but it didn’t happened .I didn’t knew the landing date is the main date of my PR was under an impression copr is the main date and I didn’t get married at that time.

Yes, she studied here she has a work permit to process express entry.

can you please advise if my reason seems okay??this is what has happened suggest me if i can add anything in my explanation. Can you also let me know what is H&C condition, I am not awwre of this.
Thanks a lot for your input

Once you got married, you were required to return your COPR to the visa office (i.e. not use it to land and become a PR), notify the visa office that you were married and then submit all of the documents and paperwork to add your spouse to your application (e.g. PCC, medical for your spouse). You would have then been issued a new COPR after several months indicating you are married. These were the steps you were required to take.

H&C is humanitarian and compassionate considerations.

I can't advise you on the response.

Your dates here do not seem to correspond. Was your copr received in 2018?
