congrats fr safe landing, may your desires be granted and no reason to regret IJN

@ BeeYo,
Go and possess the land that is flowing with milk and honey.

Many thanks.
We will all have great stories to tell.
Many people here are immigrants at one time or the other. Either themselves or their parents. They are friendly people, willing to listen and give directions. The Lady we met in the bank was so nice. She said "trust everyone, but keep your eyes open".

Fellows,
the landing process is very straight-forward. We (Wife and I) landed on Sunday, 23rd September at Calgary, Alberta. The immigration and custom officers were very friendly. We informed them we had come to land. We were directed to a room at the back, where they asked for Passports and COPR. The Lady stamped them and gave us back passports and a copy of COPR where we signed. We provided an address where cards will be mailed. She said welcome to Canada! We went to customs. We had prepared a list of goods to follow which we gave to the guy we met. He was nice, did not check our luggage. No question on proof of funds. He only stamped and kept a copy of goods to follow. We were out in 15 minutes to meet our friends who came to pick us!

Wishing all those landing soon, great favours too.
Welcome to Canada. It's a lovely place!

Congratulations
Wish you happy stay in Calgary.

Cheers

Sorry jare bros. It was with plenty struggle I made C6 in English :P. Na only warm clothes? I learnt that in Calgary the temperature could vary for as wide as 10 to 15 degrees within a day. In that case may be its 5 deg in the morning and suddenly climbs to 18deg in the afternoon, how do you dress to avoid looking like like a Michelin man?

Just thinking beyond carying all the iros in my moms pont moto :P :P :P

It is true that the temp can vary widely in Calgary but the only thing one can do is dress to be on the safe side. I go out before 7am everyday when it is really really cold and I dress to keep warm. By evening when I'm returning home,I'm carrying my coat because it's not so cold anymore and you'll see others doing same.

Would you rather freeze because you don't want to look like Michelin man? :o Don't be worried about the kids, they'll adjust faster than you sef. Just dress them warm and there are lots of warm clothes here.

@VincentCal, welcome to Calgary but cold never start yet ;D That initial snow was like fluke. Glad you are settling in fast.

Happy thanksgiving everyone.

landed seniors,

could you kindly confirm how long it takes to receive the PR cards???

Hi all,

i took time this past week to read the thread from beginning to end and i must commend everyone that has contributed to ensure the thread did not die.

Just a quick question to the landed seniors and any other person that could have the necessary info.

I would like to know if Lethbridge, alberta is a good place to arrive in in terms of proximity to major land marks, transportation(bus, tube /rail station), health facility and other centres.

Also i would like to know if from lethbridge i can easily get a tube to ontario?how far is it to ontario from lethbridge-pls give distance using locations in Nigeria for better appreciation.

The reason for my queries is that as part of my pre landing preparation i applied to certain companies whose offices are in ontario and i was told to contact them when i arrive so am looking at the possibility of landing at my uncles place in lethbridge and then going to those offices in ontario.

Also interested in the duration from MR to PR.

Pls your feed back.
