Hi All,
I and my wife and the 2 kids landed in Calgary on the 9th March,2011 9pm. Sorry for the delayed post as I got too tied up in too many things. The landing was smooth, the immigration officer was helpful and advised us to take the picture of the kids again as it might not be accepted for PR. We did that and then proceeded to customs. She didnt even want to look at what we brought, infact she didnt even want to look at goods to follow list. However, I asked her to stamp and give me a copy. She asked how much money was I carrying and then never asked us to show anything. With regards to POF, I would still urge people to carry it not debate too much on the subject; my 2 cents advise.
Got the SIN. We did this on Hary Hay's Building, downtown, Calgary. Opened the bank account, submitted the papers for Alberta Health care card and we already have the numbers for both the SIN and Health card. both of these would arrive later by post. The weather certainly is cold!!! I had never seen snow in life and was very excited to see it. However, now that i see it, I miss the sunshine of Dubai!!!
will start the job hunt from coming monday and shall defintely post my experinces of the same. it is very early to comment, but life certainly is not as easy as we all got used to in Dubai and else where. I have however found Calgary to be the most pedestrian freindly city I have ever been to. The public transport system is also awsome and people in general are freindly.
I wish to all those waiting for the PR good luck and all those landing in Canada Wellcome!!
Warm Regards,
