Just wanted to add smthg about bank accts: u may use passport, the landing paper (u'll be givven on at the airport after landing) and the paper with you SIN given at Service Canada (before getting actual card by mail) in order to open an account (if it's urgent for you-usually it is) because you need to pay for rent and manage your funds... and later u can provide the actual SIN card to the bank u dealt. At the bank u will be requested "proof of residency" the SIN paper from Service Canada contains that, even it's your friend's address, later when u established on your own house or apartment u can update address. I was strongly recommended to get an acct with Scotiabank (they have 'Welcome to Canada' program and offer 1 year free bank acct, give you 4 free cheques at the beginning, give credit card without locking your funds for a year, Safety Deposit box 1 year free) i'm going to link them, if Almighty wills, and later time will show.

By the way, it's very important not to lose the immigration paper u will be given at the airport, because when Permanent residents after certain time apply for citizenship, they will be asked for it. without it there is no way!!!

Hi,

Once you land in Canada. Take Sin number, it will be a letter stating your pin number and keep it very safe and take Library card. Then goto a Bank and open a saving account and take a Visa card and they will ask you to deposit $ 200 - 500 as security for issuing you a visa card and that is how your credit history will be build and then you can take cell phone number and connections without a deposit.

Hi,

This if for people who have got their house for living and have started settling for grocery and house hold items.

Usually, there are news papers which you get free which intimate you about deals which keep running on every good super store like costco, No Frills and many more. So plan accordingly and you can get many discounts and end up paying 30-40 % less on your bills.
