Dear All,
I have just landed with my family to Toronto, and wish to share some few tips and info.
Landing was pretty straightforward and just like what so many other members have shared, however I wish to state the following:
1- PR Card application: No need to fill any forms at all before landing. The PR card form will be filled online by the IO. So don't worry about that long form at all.
2- PR Card personal photos: there is lot of skepticism and talk about photos being rejected...so on so forth...simply the IO officer will check the photos attached to your COPR and if these are good, you will not need to resubmit any. So relax.
3- for B4 forms, if you follow Mr.Qorax great post, you are perfectly well and done.
4- declaration form is something you will be given in the plane for customs purposes. Ensure you fill all names of your family and sign on the minors of them.
4- Motel6 is a good and cheaper place to stay at if you book online. I saved around $11 per day by booking online. This almost applies to so many places and attractions. Booking online is cheaper.
5- if you are renting a car like us, don't get it from the airport as it will be more expensive. For a week rental, you might pay around $70-100 more (of course in case you don't have a pick up, you can try this).
6- if you have children, you MUST have car seats or boosters for your children or you will be fined around $500 with two black points.
7- GPS is a must and great invention to find your way. Ensure you choose (Avoid Toll Roads) so you avoid being hit with the expensive 407ETR road.
8- finally, if you are carrying your Sony or Nikon cameras, iPhones or mobile devices, your chargers will need an adaptor to connect it with your cables. Therefore, you can buy a small adaptor for $14.95 from a store called The Source. Find its location at thesource.ca. I had to search Canadian Tire, Walmart with no luck, till I found it at the Source.
Other than these, enjoy your time in attractions like the CN Tower, Casa Loma, Niagara Falls....etc. This is what we did to enjoy our landing experience.
Cheers
Mezo
