Landed but IO did not process PR application

Hello Everyone,
I landed today at Rainbow Bridge. Everything went smoothly except when the IO asked if I was moving for good. I replied that I would be staying for a few weeks as I would be primarily job-hunting on this visit and then move to Canada for good in six months.
To this he replied that he would complete the landing paperwork but not be processing the PR application right away. He said that I should come by to any Immigration office at the border when I eventually move for good.

Has anyone else had an experience like this?

Qorax, PMM, and other seniors, is there any way I can still have my PR application processed? Or will I have to wait till I move for good in six months?

Your valuable input is appreciated.

Thanks,

Well, by my own view. I feel you should come back ASAP. No one knows the extent of any notes attached to your identity by the IO. We don't even know of any implication. I feel you were given the PR to fill skill shortage in Canada and demonstrating that you are focused on doing that almost immediately will look good.

That's just my view, but from my experience, you can't trust the IO that much when it comes to people coming in.
And in the case that you have changed your mind, instead of going out, you can book an appointment with any CIC office near your residence to complete it.

Regards

The BSO at the Border Post acted correctly.
If u do not stay in Canada u aren't supposed to receive ur PR cards. However, there's no adversity in ur case, just that u tend to lose $50 (PR card's apps fees)... if u enter Canada again by road* - u don't require the PR cards - come in and reapply for the cards.

*However, if u intend to travel by public tpt [air, sea, bus] u'd have another cost involved ($50 for the PRTD).

Sam,

SInce you are staying in Canada for a week, try coming back to the US (with valid visa) and go back to Canada as if you were landing again ....try applying for the PR card saying that you are moving into Canada for a few months now and give Canadain address of your friend \ relative !
