Hello all my friends here,
I just did my landing at the airport today. my husband and I came back from our vacation from Paris and did the landing. Im here to share my experience with you guys.
when you get off the airplane, there are police check your passport first, then go to customs. there are two lines, one for Canadian, one for visitor. go to the visitor line. show them your passport and that paper you do on the airplane(forgot the name the paper, about what kind stuff you bring into Canada. how much worth.) then keep going, the security guy will lead you to the other customs room. it's the place you do all your paper work. the line was ok today, waited around 30mins. the visa officer was nice, asked simple questions like the address you want your pr card send to and any criminal charges. then sign your paper, he stamp your passport. then all done :) there are information centre right beside the office for new comers. you can get some information. I have been live in Canada for 6 years. so I told them I don't need it, the lady kind a little bit upset with me, but, hey, i don't care anymore, im PR now :)
if you have any questions about Canada, anything, feel free to send me messages. immigration is a really hard process, have a strong believe my friends, you will be ok :)
good luck! ;D

also, just let you guys know. you can use your copr to get new SIN card, but you need to get Health card after landing.

Do you know if there is a big difference to go to US border and land in airport?

I don't really know. we planned our trip to Paris before I received my PR, so we just went and came back did at the airport. I was thinking doing at the US boarder, but I was afraid to get a refused record, so I didn't do that way.

Hi Sophia, congrats.
My friend is landing next week at Toronto Airport, could you please suggest is there any difference between Terminal 1 and 3(I believe both are same) and also could you please suggest can he apply SIN at the airport after completing the landing formalities.
And also, reg. the Traveller's cheque, did the office asked for any proof of funds to live in canada (I think 6,000 per person) ?
Please suggest.

Hi there, we came back from France, so international ones are at terminal 3 I believe. He has to go to service Canada apply for SIN, you cant apply at the airport, no office there, he can go on service Canada website find the location near him. the office didn't ask my any proof of funds to live in Canada. the whole process only took 2 mins.

Hi Sophia,
Congratulations! I am new to this post and was hoping you could possibly guide me. I currently reside in India and in the process of getting the PR.
1). I was told that since I am in India, I will first be issue a visitor visa with which I can land and then get the PR. Is this true?
2). How long is this valid for?
3). Are there any documents (bank statement, etc) that I need to submit?
4). Once I land, how much time does it take for the PR to arrive?
Last but not the least...5). What is the validity of the PR?

Hoping you could kindly answer and guide me through...

Congrats on landing.

Both terminal 1 and terminal 3 are international. Air Canada (and the Star Alliance affiliates) are at terminal one whereas Skyteam, OneWorld, WestJet and Air Transat use terminal three.
Coming back from France you may have been traveling Air France or something like Delta or AA via the US to arrive at terminal 3.

Apparently at terminal 1 you can get the SIN card right away at certain times. I landed after midnight on a Sunday so that wasn't possible. Not a problem, you just go to Service Canada and it takes 5 min depending on whether or not you have to wait. There are no physical cards any ore, you just reeive a new number.

Did you need to prove your financial statement?

I did my landing in Ottawa and did not need to provide any other documentation apart from the COPR.

Hope this helps.

Hi,
although CEC applicants don't need to show any funds during the landing process, if you're currently living outside of Canada you may be required to show some funds (in order to support yourself in the beginning).
