Hi All, I have a work visa expiring Feb 2013, but my employment ends this month. Don't have other job offer right now and have applied PR last month. I intend to take a long holiday based in Canada and do some travelling to several countries. My employer will do deregistration of my work visa early next month. Does that mean the officer will know my status at the airport and driving border with US? What should I say if they ask me the purpose of entering Canada? Should I stay in Canada until I get PR? Heard that I will be able to stay in Canada until expiry of the working visa. Does that mean I can travel and come back to Canada freely before that expiry date as well? Meanwhile, if I stay in Canada, is the MSP still valid? Do I need to purchase visitor insurance? Sorry so many questions. Thanks for your patience! :)

What is your PR visa based on? The circumstances may very well have changed. If asked, you are required to answer truthfully any questions asked on entry to Canada.

If your work permit is not an open one you may not work elsewhere in Canada and it is possible your status in Canada was connected to the work permit and if seeking re-entry to Canada it would be necessary to prove you are a visitor.

my advice, don't go out of the country until you have a new employer and new work permit, coz basically you don't have status right now, if you go out of the country, then what is your purpose of getting in to canada? you can't say to work coz u don't have any employer...call the immigration...cic.gc.ca. you have to let them know as well regarding your status then they will do bridge connection in your processing when u get new employer....godbless

What do you mean by "bridge connection"? I have singapore passport and don't need a visa to enter canada as visitor. maybe i should just come back as a normal visitor?

my advice is you call the immigration :0 coz what I understand if you leave the country without current employer, you can't come back...or else your application will start all over again,.
