hello there, my husband is a permanent resident in Canada and I am here in the Philippines. We already send our application for spousal sponsorship last July, however without proof of upfront medical examination. We thought medical examination will be necessary after we submit our application. Sadly, i read that the same is mandatory and should be incorporated to the whole application. I have now here with me my proof of upfront medical but i do not know how to send this to them. IOM also said that after two weeks they will send my medical result to Canada. Is it true that if an application was mailed without proof of medical examination, the whole package will be returned? if yes, how long would they mail the application so that we could returned it back to them and include proof of upfront medical? if not, upon receipt of our application how soon will they notify and inform us so that we can immediately comply with the lacking medical ?has anyone experienced the same? Im i bit worried. My warmest and sincerest thanks.

You now have a choice whether to file your application before taking a medical (in which case CIC will ask for it later) or to take it 'up-front', a choice only open to certain classes of applicant, including family class applicants. Read the new procedure here: http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp. There is something to say in favour of both options. The first may delay the whole timeline, but the chances of the medical's period of validity expiring is less. Up-front medicals risk losing their period of validity before CIC's final decision on the application but time can be extended in certain cases by CIC.

Hi wowsers. We already filed our application last July and the same was received on July 29, 2013.my concern is about how would I send my upfront medical. i had my upfront medical only last week and i have here with me the proof of upfront medical which is supposed to be included in the application. Manila health center is going to send the result to Canada after two weeks. If they are in time, in less than a month the CPC-Mississauga will receive my medical result and at same time will be notified that I had undergone upfront medical even if I dont have proof of the same in my application. My query is upon receipt of our application how soon will they notify and inform us so that we can immediately comply with the lacking medical ?thanks

Depends on whether your medical examiner adopted the new online procedure or not. If he/she adopted it, the medical report is sent electronically to Ottawa. It contains a barcode which can be matched up with your file by Mississauga, who get the barcode from the document you should have sent with the application. You should have been handed the first page of your medical report after your medical and should have included that with your application. I take it from what you say that you did not receive that page until later. I assume (but do not know for certain) that as a result Mississauga will not be able to get the medical report from Ottawa because they will not have the barcode. That suggests to me that you will somehow or another have to get the first page you have now received to Mississauga so that it can be joined up with the rest of your application. I would send it with a covering letter giving all the details you can give (full names, addresses, dates of birth etc, an explanation of what has happened and a request that the missing page be joined up with your application. I assume (but again do not know for certain) that if you do not do that, or Mississauga does not do what you ask of them, in due course you will be asked to undertake another medical in accordance with the new procedure which enables the medical to be done at a later stage when requested. See http://www.cic.gc.ca/english/information/medical/medexams-perm.asp. Sorry I cannot be more precise: I have not encountered this problem before.

This is a second reply to your posts, written after re-reading them. It has just dawned on me that what you did was to send your application to Mississauga before having undertaken a medical examination, then, later, you undertook a medical examination, which you describe (incorrectly) as an 'up-front' medical examination, and as a result have only just recently received the first page, necessarily after sending off your application? If that is the sequence of events you describe, my advice remains the same: get the first page off to Mississauga asap so that they can get the medical report from Ottawa.

Hi ellaine, I've read that you submitted your application last July 2013. May I invite you to join our July 2013 thread? I will also add you to our July 2013 spreadsheet. Here are the links:

July 2013 thread: http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/-t154906.0.html
July 2013 spreadsheet : https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AvI5l_hMO7UKdGZFUGU4VFJVcTU5OWJDQWhaYnU2NGc#gid=0

I am also applying in the Manila VO. You can join us also on
http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/spouse-family-class-timeline-manila-visa-office-philippines-t40680.36525.html
Manila VO spreadsheet: https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/ccc?key=0AtCLbbZupkY_dHJRT2R1alhXS2xaUzFTcHZsTUhVbHc#gid=0

I also had my upfront medical in IOM in Makati and included the e-Medical form (the one w/ barcodes) in our applicatiom. Upon checking with them, the Canadian Embassy Manila received it on June 27 ( my medical was June 13). And I only read today in my ecas that my Medical Results have been received... which was 2 weeks after file transfer.

Thanks! :D :D :D

wowsers thank you for taking time. upfront medical examination is exclusive for spouses, that is why. I am from the Philippines.the very day that i undergone medical examination i got the proof of my emedical. what i am trying to correct here is the lack of proof of medical examination on my application. The submission of our application to mississauga sans medical examination was intentional in the sense that we have not realized that proof of medical must be included. we thought it would be necessary after filing. It was only after the filing that we realized that we are to incorporate the upfront medical.that is why i immediately submitted myself to medical. Pursuant to the guide, The Case Processing Centre in Mississauga (CPC-Mississauga) will review the sponsorship application. If it is approved, the relative’s application for permanent residence will be forwarded to the visa office responsible for their home country or the country where they have lived for more than one year.Same scenario for the medical result, in my case the result would be coming from manila. The Sponsor will be notified in writing of the decision and of the visa office to which the relative’s application has been sent. How would I get the emedical off to Mississauga asap? are you suggesting that i mail the medical even without them sending me a letter asking for the lacking proof of medical?thank you so much wowsers.

Dear Ellaine, You have almost exhausted my limited knowledge of this subject! I think the problem is your understanding of an 'up-front' medical examination. As understand it, that is a medical examination taken before you send off the application (which incidentally is not for spouses only as you state: see the link I gave you). That is if I understand you correctly not what you did: I understand that you sent off your application then, later, arranged a medical exam without waiting to be asked to undertake it and then of course you were unable to send off with the application the first page you were given by the medical centre. So you have fallen between two stools: you have neither undertaken an up-front examination nor a later examination undertaken as instructed by CIC. The exercise now must be to solve the problem as best you can. Write to Mississauga as I suggested. You will not have an UCI yet but give them as much detail as you can to enable them to connect the medical exam page to your application. It may turn out OK. The worst that can happen is that they return your application but you will be able to start again.

Hi dirkorver, I have so many questions for you , sorry, please bear with me. i just wanna know. You mean you submitted the upfront medical without them asking you to submit it? that it was solely your own volition that you have submitted it? how did you submit it, was it personal, as in you appeared before them or was it through a courier? So CPC-Mississauga will act upon the application sans medical and they will not ask for it.The one which will be interested to the proof is the canadian embassy?I would very much appreciate if you could enlighten me. Thank you so much.God Bless
